On the plus side, based on what she says in the article, it seems like there’s finally a competent AD in charge. She doesn’t sugarcoat, she’s realistic about places there can be improvement and places there can’t.

Interesting but unsurprising article

probably supports the idea that Pike will likely keep his job one more year… not because it’s deserved but because school may have no choice
Don’t disagree but very short sighted by Keli and Tate IMO,

In this war you need to raise money and significant dollars on an annual basis. No one is going to spend on two bad lame duck coaches. Ticketing sales will continue to drop and the ability to market the school will continue to be at an all time low.

Watch the IU pres and AD talk about how SHOCKING it was the amount of money that came flowing in for the school once they started winning.(Outside of Cuban btw)

You need to change or die a slow death

What's short sighted? They inherited a record deficit and coaches in Badketball & Football that both would require over $20M separation packages (each) for the 2025/26 seasons. There are no quick fixes without $$$$. And besides, if they did act immediately, it would be more logical to address football first as it has the greater revenue potential and overall fan attraction if a successful program. Consider that IU has always pumped money into Basketball...but the success of the Football program Is the key driver for extra money flowing in.

Their basketball program will take steps forward as a result of football good take

oddly enough with how dire things look in hoops and if Steve is back again next year I think football is closer to a fix anyway

Also think we need like 30k more seats for football and 4k more for bball. Even if both programs get better, still need revenue and there’s a limit to how much they can squeeze existing seat holders.

They are not pitching Rutgers fans. They are pitching large to medium size businesses with marketing/advertising opportunities. Way different conversation. No one is asking about the coach. They are talking about value and eye balls.
