As many of you remember, I chronicled the final Rush show in Dallas back in 2015. Or did I? 😮 Turns out that Alex and Geddy want to play Rush for all of us, a few more times. They've picked a drummer, Anika Nilles, for their tour. Yes. A woman. They've also discussed hiring a keyboardist to take some of Geddy's duties so that he can be out jamming more with Alex.

We were all talking about this at work and online yesterday. Many texts were sent between friends. Rush is going to play 12 shows in 7 North American cities. I'm just lucky that I live next door to Fort Worth. First, my best bud from high school calls. Says that he wants to go with me. His granddaughter's birthday is on June 26th, so that day was out. I'm like cool. I get to go see Rush. Then, I get the 2nd call. This was from my freshman dorm roommate when I was a student in Lincoln. He wants to come down from Colorado with his college aged sons and take me to the Friday show (on the 26th). I go from wondering if I can attend either of these shows and now I may see both! Anyone else planning on attending?

I'm going to Rush! Two friends want to take me. One got tix last week for June 28th, 2nd section back on the floor. Not great. But it's not all the way back. Today, I got a text from the other friend. He's got 19th row in front of Alex! June seems like so far away right now. Anyone else going?

Thinking about it. Wish they were coming to KC area. Those prices are pretty steep.

No. That was a bit earlier.
I think I remember the t-shirts with a dog and fire hydrant on them..did'nt think I needed that...
the best concert I seen was ac/dc backing up cheap trick..stood about 15ft from Angus and his amps...and left when cheap trick came out...not that cheap trick was a bad band...they just seemed pretty lame and I was tired...that was at the auditorium too

Rush did play the civic in Sept 82 on the Subdivisions tour. I was there. Rory Gallagher opened. I think that Cheap Trick/ACDC show was in 79. I also saw Rush at the civic on the Presto tour with Mr Big.

Me too. I think I saw you. Subdivisions tour?
For a change of pace, my best friend and I are Caucasian, and we caught the Ohio Players, maybe early 80's, at Civic. It was a crowd of about 10,000. There were 9,998 black dudes and 2 white guys who kept getting the "Wtf you dudes doing here?" looks. It was a blast.

OCA got a lot of big acts. A friend of mine was a high schooler playing drums in his older brother’s band that opened for Blood Sweat and Tears in the O Civic. He drums for a Christian rock group I’ve sung with.

I had a similar experience when I dragged a buddy of mine to to see a then-little-known Melissa Etheridge at the Peony Park band shell in the mid-to-late 1980s.

I must have said "We just like her music" about 100 times.

In about the early 80's my wife and I, our best friend and his wife went to Civic to watch the Leonard-Duran fight on closed circuit. We had upper level seats and I believe it was a black and white fight. Looked like 2 gnats on the wall.
