RIP Demond Wilson , actor Husband ( married Cicely Johnston in 1974 ) father (6 children with his wife)
Vietnam Vet (1966-1968) awarded the Purple Heart while serving in the Army 4th Infantry Division .
Author of several Christian books and a ordained Minister of the Church of God in Christ.

Sometimes there's more to the man we seen on TV and it's something nice to know.

edit, spelled name wrong when first posted this tribute to the man.
My apologies to all and thanking Shift for pointing my mistake out

Out of respect, use his real name. (Grady) Demond Wilson.

Was just watching this episode, which was an auction, and Lamont stole the show:

IMO of the the funniest scenes from Sanford and Son that wouldn't be allowed to be on tv today.

Times were different. Outrage and rage-baiting seemed minimal to non-existent.
There was another episode, Lamont is that You?, where Lamont and Rollo go into a gay bar. The words used in that episode would not be used today. The funny part is Sony, who owns the rights to the episodes, PC wiped the scene starting at 1:06 showing two flamboyant gay guys coming out of the bar. SMDH-nothing wrong with that. We have several LGBTQ family and friends-nobody sees anything wrong with the scene.

People also got and understood satire better back then. Case in point - All in the Family. Can’t believe how badly some folks misinterpret that show today.

Fred was merciless with Julio, the Puerto Rican neighbor.
It’s funny that you brought that up. Oddly enough for some reason, the episode when Julio and Lamont take Fred to a Puerto Rican restaurant came up on my feed this week. Completely ridiculous and hilarious. Edit: I wrote Spanish and meant Puerto Rican. I know I’ll get crushed for that. 😂 Either way. Fred still referred to sangria as Shangri La!

RIP sir. Man he was an amazing foil to Redd Foxx. Growing up as a little kid early 1980s we watched this show and I had no idea what the deeper meaning was. He was perfect for this role.

Mom had a Redd Foxx album we would put in the stereo and it was hilarious. Even though I had no idea what it all meant.

I just knew I loved watching Fred and Lamont and how simple those days were.
