There does seem to be a trend of MLB players dying from 80 to 85 rather than those over 90.
I did see a stat once that claimed that once a man reaches 85,he outlives an 85 year woman.
The problem most men have is reaching 85.
Perhaps this will change-at least among career women-in the future.

Joe was born the same day as was John Lennon,a "New Yorker" who did not survive his shooting.

I attended a game around 1965. During pre-game warmups, Joe Peptitone was soft tossing to Elston Howard. Joe good naturedly was busting Elston's chops by calling him the great "White Whale."

I was on the field with a friend of mine holding up our banner on banner day when as we walked by the dugout, Peptone came out, shook our hands and gave us a baseball bat. Super nice of him.
P.S. I wonder how many of you even know or remember what Banner Day was.
