After reading a Politi article, I am cautiously optimistic about this year's MBB season. New coach, Doorson and Freeman healthy, finally some size, and some interesting new additions. Not world beaters, but should be improved. Of course, that's not saying a lot after last year's performance.

Coach Pikiell seemingly a class guy, has already done well in New York and shown an ability to recruit...Things should get better-question is can he land 4-5 star players and that elusive B1G Center. The new facility should help even if only on the drawing board.

I'm a poor pathetic loser living in his mommy's basement. Please have pity on me.

What a sad life it must be...trolling a message board. I've sometimes wondered how people become trolls. Is it that their life is bad so they want others to feel the same or maybe lack of anything constructive to do?

I'm looking for the same things that I was looking for before the football season: a smart, tough, fundamentally sound team that competes hard. I think football is starting to round into form that way. Hopefully the easier out of conference schedule for hoops will build some early confidence.

they will be better....because one they cant be any worse, two they have a real coach now, three they will actually play defense, and four they have added depth.....however set expecations realistically. Its probably a 11-13 win team and 4 conference wins would be a success

Wow. What could possibly be your motive for posting something like that here on the Rutgers board ?

Just for the record, I was responding to Ibuildfurnaces stupid post, which was somehow deleted and then in my response to it changed completely...I guess by one of the mods.

Measuring stick is December 23 in Newark vs The Hall.

No "measuring sticks" this year. Anything whatsoever positive, regardless of which game, is what we're looking for IMHO. Just like football. Now...I think this team can be better...but that doesn't mean in "w's" and "l's." There is a TON of room for improvement from the disaster Pikes took over.

Then don't read it. Basketball needs more followers right now. If you don't wanna support it then tough..we can try to get more people to follow on this specific Rutgers forum if we want.

Why do we bother having separate forums then?
Two posts in this thread and both complaints about how you wanna be the control freak who says what does and doesn't go on this forum.

I'm a football fan first and foremost but we can support our other teams, just as a big fyi.

Way to show that school spirit. Sorry but this thread has more substance than the threads on multiple OT things like classic movies or the Indiana look alike thread. It's the free board..lighten up.

That win total is too low

I have no problem talking BBALL here until the FBALL season is over (and it might be)... the reason is that there are probably more RU BBALL fans reading this board now than there are on the BBALL board. That will change once the season really begins.

wow......rules REA:LLY? Youre upset there is an OT thread about a Rutgers sport instead of "whats NJs best pizza" or "how to weed my lawn" or my alltime fav.."load bearing walls"

OTs seem to be OK here,,,and if U cant support an RU sport you may not be a fan..find another website maybe...

I think there is FINALLY reason for optimism
-we actually have a coach that WANTS to be at RU and wasnt our 8th choice
-he has won with a mediocre sports school albeit in a weak conference
-he finds under the radar players...and develops them
-and he can coach
