I don't think White would consider RU but he was the 6th highest scorer in the BIG at 16.6 PPG and 5.9 RPG. He is a 6'7" swing/guard and we really need another guard. I'm sure Pikiell will contact him. We can only dream.

Nice, we've got them at home again this year. Maybe we can put up a fight and not lose by 35 again. That was depressing.

Nebraska would need to release him to play allow him to transfer in conference.

What are his issues?
Multiple sources in multiple states have told me that Andrew White III is a good kid and talented basketball player. These same sources tell me that Andrew White, Jr. (his father) is, shall we say...high maintenance.

Going back to White's original recruitment out of HS, more than a few colleges breathed a sigh of relief when White cut them from his list. They wanted the kid but didn't want to deal with the dad.

White declared for the draft, and didn't withdraw until hours before the deadline. Now in late June he announces that he is going to transfer. It just sounds like the kid is getting really poor advice from someone that he trusts.

Nebraska has given him his full release and he has graduated so can play anywhere immediately.
As another poster pointed out, this is more about the dad than the kid.
He will only transfer to a team that is all but assured of making the NCAA tourney according to his father.
This is a big blow for NU as with him they would have made the tourney this year with the transfers and White being healthy. This will put a damper on things but NU will still be better than they were last year(which isn't saying a lot).

Ergo, he's not coming here.
Be happy about that.

Lot's of reports that there is serious case of a helicopter father who raised questions about his son’s place in the Nebraska program, despite him starting all 34 games and taking more shots than any other Husker. The dad also suggested that going to a program that was rebuilding hurt his son's NBA chances. Yet that is the program they chose.

You really can't make this stuff up.

I don't think Pikiell would want to bring that into the program in his first year.

Sounds like a Kentucky reclamation-Calipari type project....only certain coaches have the cache to check the Dad's ego....if he failed at UK, his NBA aspirations go up in smoke...if he thrived, he'd be in the lottery....

He is a good player, but he couldn't crack the starting lineup at KU, I can't see him thriving at UK.

Kid attempted the most shots and played the most minutes at his last school and the dad still wasn't happy.

Another player is mentioned as a possible Rutgers transfer but the conclusion by some fans is that he won't come here.Such reasoning has proven true for decades when it comes to recruiting in general and its the main reason whey the mens basketball has been floundering in mediocrity .Complementary type players are a dime a dozen and they haven't been the answer in the past and certainly not in the future competing in the B1G.Rutgers is in dire need for playmakers that can put the ball in the basket on a consistent basis.

He was never mentioned as a possible Rutgers transfer. I just create the thread to point out one of our conference teams lost a key player.

Russ - could it be that the same thing is happening with one of the locals from the Class of 2016 - Taurean Thompson? Good player. I have always liked the kid, but I'm wondering about the "advisors". I recall New Jersey Hawk from this site alerted us to some potential issues a while back. It is now almost July and still no commitment. I recognize he is not coming to RU, just curious whether you have insight as to what is going on there.

Note to Dad-----avoid UVA-----Tony Bennett will toss you and your act out of his building.

I'd go to GTECH if I was that kid----good city with an NBA Franchise without a lot of players.

Thanks Russ and TD. Agree with you TD regarding Bennett. Really like the guy. No way does he put up with "difficult" parents.
