I saw Modest Mouse and they were phenomenal ... fast forward a year and I went to see them again, the lead singer was so messed up he kept forgetting lyrics. At one point he just sat on the stage and started talking about how the crowd was like a bunch of penguins.

It was terrible.

I won tickets on Starkville radio for Dan Fogelberg about 1983 or 1984 at the Hump. Didn't care much about going but a hot little number I had been trying to get to know was all about it so I invited her. It was without a doubt the worst performance ever, start to finish. He was singing some long slow balad and people had already begun getting restless. About half way through the balad people started booing. He said a few words and they booed more. He walked off the stage and they really started. We left after awhile and he later came back out and finished w/ a much smaller crowd. Meanwhile I was having a much better time with my date, she was very appreciative that I had taken her.

1) Soundgarden in Memphis (90s). They were switched from headliner to opener (for Kid Rock) and they played everything double speed. With their backs to the audience. I was there for just Soundgarden since Kid Rock sucks balls, so initially I thought it was funny but hindsight was disappointed they didn't play as expected.
2) The Sword. Saw them before and they rocked, but seems the lead singer/guitar is in the middle of a drug battle and his level of performing has gone down hill.
3) The Black Keys. Was stoked to take my then fiancee (now wife) to this show in Cincinnati. Drummer was wasted, timing sucked bad. Then my car was towed. Hell of a night, finally got my car back around 2am.

Sad to say it ‘cause always wanted to see him live one time before he died. B.B. Kings homecoming festival in his hometown of Indianola I believe either ‘13 or ‘14 was the worst show I ever attended. Opening interlude was great, after that all he did was try to get kids up on stage. I never left a concert in my life, but that one got up & walked out & never wanted my money back so bad. Very disappointing. Understanding he was approaching the end around that time. I would have enjoyed seeing him in his hay-day live but that was my worst concert experience ever. :-(

Van Halen at some megaconcert at the Superdome in 1979. It was called something like Louisiana's First Day of Rock n Roll. The whole experience was horrible because there was like an hour delay between bands. But Van Halen was extremely disappointing. Roth just screamed for his 45 minutes. Funny thing was Sammy Hagar was an earlier act that day and he was pretty good.

I only saw him perform once as well. It was several years ago at one of his Medgar Evers Homecoming shows and it was shortly after my father had died.

It likely wasn’t his best show but it was good and it was what I needed. I had opportunities to see him again but I always passed because I didn’t think it would be a better and more memorable show than I’d seen.

Hagar is a much better singer than Roth ever was.

I don't think there's any question about this. But DLR didn't have to be as good as Hagar because he had such a stage presence. He sang well enough when he made the effort. His problem was he was too interested in mumbling and screaming his words in between spinning kicks off the side of the stage.

I can appreciate Hagar's talent, but Van Halen was so much better with DLR when they were at their best, in my opinion.

Both were great in their day. I do like Hagars version of VH better though. And he’s definitely aged much better than Roth.

DLR led Van Halen were always much better on vinyl. I guess Ted Templeman didn't allow them to get bombed in the studio.

Didn't think this one would be epic --- but didn't realize it would be so bad. Counting Crows and Live came to Tupelo couple of years ago.

Live was great. I'd forgotten how much I liked those guys. Loved it.

Counting Crows... lol... I've never seen so many people leave a concert. Not sure how many tickets were sold but there couldn't have been more than a thousand who stayed for the whole thing. My group and the people behind us were literally the only ones left in our section. I've seen more people at the MSU vs Ole Miss hockey games than what was left when they turned the lights on.

Van Hagar > Van Halen. David Lee Roth was a showman but was pathetic as a singer. He jumped around and squealed like a monkey at the zoo.

Saw B.B. probably more than 20 times while he was alive. Used to go to the Indianola Homecoming every year. I can attest to what you're saying. As he got much older, he would just sit and talk while the band played. And he'd have that kids dance contest where he gave them all a dollar that took up most of his stage time. Was very sad to see. I dragged my two roomies with me who'd never seen him before and pumped him up the whole time. After we got there and that happened, I had to apologize the whole way home and explain that they didn't really get to see the real B.B. perform.

I was at that Counting Crows concert in Tupelo. I ate at Jim’s BBQ across the street beforehand. The lady there asked if I wanted tics to the concert. I told her I had already bought a cheap one. I told her I share on fb and see if any of my friends wanted to come. Not one hit. Before I left she asked again if I wanted one. I asked what seats you got available? Her seats were better than my nosebleed seat so I tool one close to stage on the West risers. I enjoyed the concert & forgot how many popular songs Live actually cut.

Counting Crows, as we all are, are older now & kinna hard to hit those high notes. Definitely different listening to them
live than recorded many years ago. I didn’t remember a lot of folks leaving but there def was a lot of in & out fans and interruptions during the show.

Foo Fighters at De Luna fest. It’s not that they were bad, but Pearl Jam played the night before and it was a very long set with a ton of effort. Foo Fighters just didn’t have the energy and the set was pretty short.

I was at this show. I thought they were good. From what I remember, Zac Brown Band played the next day, which was good too.

They're my favorite band, and I'm 0/2, though neither were as bad as you describe. I'll keep trying until I catch them on a good night.

One time I saw them in Birmingham at Sloss Furnace, and their energy was great, but either it's impossible to get the mix right in that place, or their sound guy just couldn't figure it out. The music was all muddled, and you could hardly hear the vocals.
