He is good player and can contribute on offense. Does he take minutes away from Young? I would take the trade any day.

Wow Gtown has seen a ton and i mean a ton of transfers under Ewing this past year.
I think two guys were suspended ot dismissed from the team. Granted that resulted in them transferring but they had no choice if they were dismissed.
A real me first kid. Glad he's not here. Didn't like our players. I can see why they wouldn't get along.
I don't know if McClung is as you described but his Coach was making public statements that McClung would be back at Georgetown WHILE the kid was going through the process of getting feedback from the NBA undergraduate committee.

That is not okay even if McClung told his Coach he'd be back. Knowing that, I don't blame the kid for transferring.

Lots of red flags with this kid.
What flags?
He looked good when I saw play me play
Higher % shooter than Young but I have not checked
Maybe inconsistent.but drove to basket strong and hit the short jumpers

I always thought all that publicity nonsense with his cousin “Riff Raff” was over the top in high school. Then, there were the rumors that he didn’t seem to “fit in” with the team on his visit to Rutgers and he backed out of his verbal. Then he says he’s going to test the draft and winds up in the transfer portal. Seems like a misfit to me.

Two teammates committed some kind of robbery/assault. Another transferred midseason. Two of those three were some of the best players on the team.

Meanwhile McClung played, and played hard, and played through injury until he couldn't, and kept Georgetown in the tournament picture through the end of January.

Something is not right with Georgetown. I don’t know much about Ewing as a coach but he can’t seem to keep it together there.

I also am withdrawing my name from the NBA draft. And the ABA draft. And the CBA draft. And the D League draft. And the USBL draft. And the Canadian Elite Basketball League draft. Respect my decision. No interviews.

This thread (and all the other ones JUST. LIKE. IT) reminds of that scene in “A Clockwork Orange”

Going on a visit and not fitting in with a team's current players is a common thing. Whether it is the current players not feeling the recruit and telling their coaches or the recruit not feeling the current players. It happens frequently.

It only became "news" for McClung because he had already verbally committed to Rutgers. The lesson here is don't commit before visiting.

He did some of the things that made me feel a little queasy about Corey Sanders--dribbling into trouble; hogging the ball too much. And his small size gave him problems on D. Maybe a little like watching Jimmer Fredette's repeated attempts to stick in the NBA. McClung played hard; got bounced around some; played through injury. But he was not ready for a major role in a power conference. Maybe he will be later--Fredette averaged nearly 30 for BYU one year, if memory serves.

I could see Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Tennessee, BYU and Maryland getting involved with him.

That's too bad I heard at Subway that you were pretty high up on the board for the Nebraska Cranes.

Always good to read the facts and details from a team's writer/blogger and fanbase...what’s not written in this specific article linked here, is an actual documentary type of film crew ultimately being involved in his day to day activities. Kid clearly has a marketing background of some sort, but way beyond the team concepts.

It also looks like the amount of guards Georgetown and Ewing recruited, was with the likelihood of this happening. Ewing brought in more guards than he needed, if McClung was likely to stay.
