R.I.P. Luis "El Tiante" Tiant
Luis' father Luis Tiant Sr played in the Negro Leagues for 12 years and with his wife were granted permission to see their son play in the US and stayed in the USA.
So, it seems, Luis' baseball career helped reunite him with his parents
