My wife and I are heading to a wedding in Ireland in April. We will be flying to London after for three or four nights. I was there once but that was way back in 1994. Anyone who has been there recently have a hotel recommendation?

Royal Lancaster is in Paddington (Central London), no more than a 10 minute walk to Paddington Station (which you can get to from Heathrow by train) and 5 min to the closest tube station.

London is a lot different now and not for the better. Stayed at friends in Worcester this summer and summer's past, it's not what it used to be.

This sounds like a great recommendation, judging from the location and what people say about the hotel. On my last trip, I stayed at a place across the Thames from Parliament near the Waterloo Station. The Royal Lancaster sounds better. If you don't want to walk from Paddington Station, you can change there for the Central line and get off one stop later at Lancaster Gate.

In the Tower Bridge area I recommend the Tower Suites by Blue Orchid where I stayed last Spring. Nice rooms, great location right by a train station and walking distance to nice restaurants and pubs.

Brown's Hotel. Nicest hotel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in hundreds in 25+ countries.

Where you going in Ireland?

Are you checking out any ball?

Check out the St. James Court hotel. It’s old and the rooms and bathrooms aren’t big but it’s a really good hotel in a prime location and has a great Indian restaurant.
