On this day 78 years ago the greatest generation stormed the beaches of Normandy. My grandpa was one of them. Much respect for your sacrifice. Never forget!!

Those poor troops. It was a shooting gallery once the doors on the boats came down. They had no cover and nowhere to go but straight ahead on the beach into German fire from the elevated pillboxes. Bravery and insanity.
My grandma had four brothers serve, 2 army, 1 Navy and 1 in the Marines. That truly was the greatest generation. They grew up at the start of the Great Depression and just went to work to build a better world. Those were some tough people, not out of any kind of egotism, but purely out of necessity, with little room for complaining.
We need more people like that in the upside-down world we live in today. They were tough resilient sons of bitches.
My grandfather had brothers in the Army, Marines, Navy, and Army air corp. He built landing craft in New Orleans. His brothers all made it home. Rangers Lead the Way ! Hooah !
Saving Private Ryan is a great similarity of what happen when they landed on Omaha Beach..
We‘ll never forget what they did for this country amazing generation…
Apparently too realistic. Many survivors didn't wanna relive that day when the movie came out.
