A couple days ago . Didn’t see it here or the football board (may have missed it ). He was mostly a college basketball writer so figured this board is the place for it. His “season on the brink” with Bobby knight is one of the best sports books of all time. He also wrote other books about seasons inside the ACC and the Patriot League .

A Good Walk Spoiled another good book from him, about the PGA Tour. I read that book in the 90s and learned the phrase “Trunk Slammer” for how a tour player’s week went at an event. A trunk slammer meant they missed the cut that week, grabbed their clubs and slammed them in the trunk to head back home.

There was a thread on the football board. As others have said, he was a great author and enjoyed his books A Season on the Brink, the Punch and Where Nobody Knows Your Name.
