I clicked your Iowa Board link...
I have never been there..

Now, I am all pissed off.

I wasn't too happy, either. If those Iowa fans would stop trolling here I wouldn't have to tell them where to go. Where should I tell them where to go, c2o?

Monumentally colossal idea. Are your insurance premiums up to date?

Don’t do it! Took my kids to Chicago a few weeks back and decided to show kids Iowa’s stadium. Husker plates, husker stickers husker shirt. Got pulled over right at the stadium parking lot. Got a ticket for speeding. 10 over and there literally is no way. $114 fine. Black Friday they go down.

Objectively, Iowa City is a cool town with a good bar scene. You’ll have fun if you aren’t obnoxiously rubbing your Husker gear in people’s faces or anything.

Pretty much this. Its a great college town with a ton of bars to have a good time for about every age bracket.

Surely you can protest that in court and have it dropped?

Hey, since you Iowa guys are over here anyways, how about you take Mr. First Post back home with you?

We used to travel to the Iowa State game in Ames every other year. It was pretty much a given that we were going to get a ticket of some form or another. My favorite was the random safety checks they do on the highway, which is really just a way to ticket all out of state drivers for some easy cash.

Also had this happen in Kansas. Some cop whose name was probably Billy Bob gave me a ticket for going 65 in a 60 zone. Had just turned from one state highway to another, and hadn't even seen a speed limit sign yet. Turns out the highways with blacktop shoulders are 65, while those with gravel are 60. How anybody was supposed to know this is beyond me. I was three hours from home, so the likelihood of driving six hours round-trip to protest the ticket, and have the judge, Billy Bob, Sr. take another shot at the foreigner (as in, not from Kansas, and having two parents who weren't cousins) wasn't worth the trouble.

That is a small incorporated town called University Heights that is right by the stadium. They are notorious for having a cop sitting on Melrose waiting for people coming to the east and busting them...well known here as they are a running joke.

This. Only tickets I ever got while living in Iowa City were for going 25.00001 mph in University Heights. When they say 25 mph, they mean it.

I do take issue with the guy above who thinks there's a conspiracy in the state of Iowa to ticket out of state drivers. I've lived in Omaha for 8 years or so now, have Nebraska plates on my vehicle, and have attended numerous games in Iowa City (including the 3 Nebraska games where maybe my plates would paint me as an opposing team's fan to be shaken down on some trumped up charge) and have received no undue scrutiny. Maybe don't drive like an idiot?

As to the OP - the pedmall is like O street or the hay market in Lincoln but many many many times more fun. Half the coeds at Iowa are from the Chicago suburbs and thus hotter than the Berthas from Alliance and Clarabells from Broken Bow that you're used to hitting on. Approach accordingly.

Wow, that was just funny as hell. Take your Iowa trash back where it belongs.

Just an observation, but since about 2015 every Iowa fan with Nebraska plates has made their allegiance known with any number of bumper stickers, license plate frames, decals and flags. So unless you are different your allegiance to Iowa was obvious.

OT, I’ve noticed a “Native Iowa” sticker lately a take on the “Native Colorado” sticker. Weird. I did see one sticker where somebody replaced “Native” with “Captive” in the Iowa sticker. I lol’d.

Damn. How did I miss this thread? I'm a big fan of Trumpet Blossom, but you didn't ask about vegan cafes. Otherwise, St. Burch Tavern is nice. Took the spot that used to be Atlas.
