Hey y’all. My wife just picked up an 8 qt. InstantPot. You guys have any any advice for where to start with it? I’ve heard good things, but if any of y’all have recipes or anything you’d recommend I’d greatly appreciate it!

Google instant pot recipes and have fun with it. We use our quite often as have tried all kinds of different recipes in it

If you want some thing to start with that is pretty easy look up a recipe for pork carnitas

We own one. Just this past week I made a beef stew my wife said is the best she's ever had. She literally ate it 3 days in a row.

Used this recipe, departing just slightly because I didn't have quite enough onion, potatoes or tomato sauce. I had about half the amount of these 3 ingredients. I did supplement the tomato sauce with tomato bisque to reach the called for amount of tomato sauce. I also added a corn starch mixture to thicken it after cooking.

We got one back in the winter and used it a lot. Have done much with it this summer, but once it starts getting colder, I am sure we will transition back from grilling.

Just about anything you would do in a slow cooker, you can do in an IP and it is delicious.

Wife made some ribs in ours recently and they were great. She uses it a lot more in the winter. The best thing I’ve had in the instant pot was this loaded potato soup she made. That was fantastic.

I food prep so I use it all the time. Chicken, turkey, sweet potatoes. Makes it very convenient.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. Seems like one of those you use and really like, then you don't use it and forget about it until you happen to see a recipe, or see it up on your shelf reminding you it's there. So you pull it back down, make something and remember why you liked it so much in the first place.

They're fine. Not the end all be all of cooking.

Also, don't believe anyone who says you can boil eggs or do something else in 5 minutes. You have to add in what I call "shipping and handling" so you might be cooking at pressure for only 5 minutes, but it takes 10 minutes to get to pressure and 20 minutes to come back down. If anything I find it takes conventional stuff longer (rice, eggs, etc.), but you get a more consistent product (fewer broken eggs and burned rice) and can cook more.

Instant Pot? How much Miracle Grow are you using and how do you keep the mole crickets away?

I got rid of my rice cooker since I got mine.
Highlights have been making pot roast w/potatoes and carrots in 50 minutes and cooking dried beans in 45 minutes (without soaking).
Can't seem to get hard boiled eggs right, however.

Do hard boiled eggs at high pressure for 5 minutes and then release after five more minutes of sitting. I love them that way

The thing I use mine for most (and this sounds odd) is browning ground beef on the sauté setting. I don't know why but I get a lot better result than in the skillet. Less mess, too.

We've made specific recipes too and they usually turn out, but nothing specific comes to mind.
