I'm not talking about short game stuff. I'm solid 75 yards and in. I'm talking about the full golf swing not being some form of rocket science. I admit my mind has been in overload mode. But it's that way from trying to fix it lol. Does anyone have any simple swing advice that has worked for them? I'm up for anything at this point. Thanks boys!

Buy a carbon fiber hockey stick with a titanium "head" not sure hockey terms #CFBisOnlySport and rent the movie Happy Gilmore, watch about 100 times til you can repeat every word verbatim, head out to the driving range :D

Slow your swing down to half to three-quarter swings until you develop muscle memory with your swings.
Head down...don't try to see where the ball goes before you hit it.
Lots of practice.

I’ll give you the advice my golf lesson instructor gave me. He said I had a “LOFT” problem, so I asked him how to fix it. He told me the following, which may or may not be helpful. He told me to drive to the hardware store, and pick up a 10” spike and a hammer. Then he said to drive Home and clear out some space in the garage. Then he told me to pound the spike into a wall of the garage, hopefully hitting a stud. Finally, he told me to hang up my clubs on that spike because I have a Lack Of F’ing Talent (LOFT) problem. Definitely helped me suck less at golf

I just hope that your golf instructor isn't your wife and girlfriend when he/she says you have a 'loft' problem.

If you plan on playing for years to come the best advice s to bite the bullet and pay the money for proper instruction by a teaching pro. Learn right from the start and it will pay dividends forever.

Keep your head down and make sure your club path is inside out, not outside in, which is honestly the biggest mistake I see golfers make.
Close your stance, get your club path inside out, keep your left arm straight, head down, don't go too far back, and finish forward.
This..........and relax your grip, then quit thinking and start swinging.

The best advice I ever heard for men was from an LPGA tour pro who gave some lessons for a charity event. She said most men try to swing too hard and grip their club too tightly...Well at last I think she was talking about golf.. Shorten your swing and don't swing so hard with the driver especially. Practice trying to just clip the grass with a 3/4 swing with your irons and ALWAYs follow through all the way through. I'm guessing at 75 yards you're not trying to smash it so you're probably swinging easier with a looser grip. Try to channel that on your longer irons and driver.

So are you telling him he needs to play with his wood more?

And another thing, with your irons, hit the ball, not the turf in front of the ball. Hit down on it. The divot should be in front of where your ball was.
The first thing your club should strike is the ball itself.

Read Harvey Penick's little red book.

But really if you are fine from 75 and in you are 90% there. Short game swing is just a smaller version of the full swing. If you have that down you must be doing something different from further out.

As others have advised, invest in a couple of lessons with a teaching pro - and do it when you have time to play. I've seen people take a series of lessons and then not play an actual round for six months, and that's a waste.

The only other advice I would offer is, don't let your equipment make golf harder than it needs to me. Seems a lot of people buy vanity clubs with XXX stiff shafts and a low degree of loft, because some salesperson convinced them that they have great club head speed, these clubs will take their game to the next level, blah blah blah. Used to play with some guys who fell for these sales pitches and the results were downright painful to watch.

Already a lot of good advice. If you’re pretty serious I’d invest in some Super Game Improvement or Game Improvement spec clubs, Bridgestone E6+ balls (yes, they do fly straight), and some lessons with a Golf Pro to observe and fix.

The person that posted about outside in swing path problem is so correct. Keep your head down, don’t try to kill the ball, and trust your swing. Hope that helps!

I have never been able to take a full backswing and hit the ball straight.

I pulled the Club head back about shoulder to head height and swing at about 75-85% full strength.

That has been the only way that I can never keep control of the club.

I am lucky enough that I hit the ball 250 to 300 yards consistently that way.

I have always taken to heart the "Do not swing too hard" advice.
