I feel bad for Lenny Elmore.....he has a law degree and did a nice job on color commentary on some UConn games. He understands the game. I realize they probably need to shed some salary and just hope Lenny has some other gig lined up......

Irony about the whole thing is that they destroyed the Big East to build up the overpaid ACC and now they spend more time with shock TV & political agenda than worrying about sports.............. they are getting hammered in the twittersphere today:

Couple of more stories:
ESPN layoffs hit Charlotte offices
As part of a round of about 100 layoffs companywide, the sports network is moving its ESPNU studio operation from Charlotte to Bristol, Conn., where ESPN is based, a source close to the matter told the Observer.

I remember this site was pretty good on CR, story goes into the cord cutting: ESPN Firing Over A Hundred Employees Today and also says:
"That's why ratings are down 16% this year compared to last year and viewers are abandoning the network in droves. Middle America wants to pop a beer and listen to sports talk, they don't want to be lectured about why Caitlyn Jenner is a hero, Michael Sam is the new Jackie Robinson of sports, and Colin Kaepernick is the Rosa Parks of football. ESPN made the mistake of trying to make liberal social media losers happy and as a result lost millions of viewers."

Just saw another good hoops guy is out, it looks like ESPiN would rather become "drama" TV than a serious sports & news co.

I don't know if Jimmy Boeheim would agree with that assessment of Andy Katz, but I am surprised to hear he was let go. I am sure he will find employment with one of the other networks.

I kind of felt ESPN was in trouble this past season when they had Len Elmore and another guy covering a UConn-Memphis game remotely, i.e. they were not even at the arena for the game they were covering. It seemed to me to be very cheap and borderline fraudulent as part of the announcers experience in covering a game is to feel energy in a crowd, or lack thereof. Elmore and Katz are solid basketball professionals and to let people like that go doesn't speak well of the company.
