Looking for a new or used golf cart. I know I want electric. Other than that, I'm kinda open to options. What you guys recommend? Club Car, EZGO,Yamaha, etc? 36V or 48V? Where to buy in the north ms area?

I had a 2007 Yamaha 48v electric. Never had a problem with it as far as maintenance goes. I thought it rode a little bouncy though. The best riding cart is a Club Car imo.

We got one of those new Yamaha AC models in january. Hauls ***. We really like it. I went in thinking I wanted a gas model until I drove one and caught the fumes and it was considerably slower than the AC.

48v is better than 36v

A48 will haul more, longer. I have had both a Club Car DS and a Club Car Precedent and would buy either one again. The older DS's aren't as pretty but I think that they may be a little better built than the Precedent. When buying used, the batteries age is the major factor. Three years and they are living on borrowed time and start losing charge faster. I have seen batteries go for five plus years when taken care of properly. Most golf course leases are two to three years because of this but I wouldn't hesitate to buy an off lease cart because they will generally have been used regularly and serviced regularly instead of just sitting in some bodies garage. Figure $800-$1000 for new batteries but then you essentially have a new cart. On a 48v, six 8v batteries are better than four 12v batteries, they will have more storage capacity and will hold charge longer. Most new carts have the 4-12v because it's cheaper to replace but I know club car makes a kit to convert the Precedent over to six-8v. Most of the older DS's will have six-8v.
I have never owned a Yamaha, but a friend of a friend has a lifted Yamaha and it will turn over in a heart beat. It will get on two wheels in a moderate speed turn. I don't know if that is something inherent with Yamahas or it has something to do with the lift kit he has on it.

What dawgbitesaid. Plus.. i have a used yamaha electric and like it a lot. More batteries is good. Played 9 this morning and could easily go 18....Batteries 4 years. Club car sets the standard though. Aluminum frame so no rust. Yamaha metal frame but i dont have any issues. Club car a bit more expensive. Easygo had some poor reviews so i stayed away

Are there any particular carts that are wider than others, giving a little extra room for seating?

I worked at a golf course when I was in high school and we switched from club car to easygo. I can back you up on club car being better. A lot better. Never been on a Yamaha but it's gotta be better than easygo.

I hate golf but I bought my neighbor's ClubCar for my kids (11&13) to cruise the neighborhood in. They haven't killed it yet and THAT is as good a recommendation as I could give because they tear-up everything they get ahold of.
