Nebraska scored 87 points in a win tonight. Griffiths did not start and had 4 points in 14 minutes (0-3 from 3). It’s only one game, but I certainly don’t feel like we’re missing anything. I believe he is coming off an injury, however.

In a Griffiths love fest thread on this board late this summer or early Fall I had looked at Nebraska's roster and pointed out Griffiths would have a playing time issue given the number of WF and guards nebraska had who were likely to play ahead of him.

Just saying...

Cliff used exactly as he should be. Zero classic post up touches. All shots are dunks or within 6 inches of the rim.

They had him moving around down low to be in position to attack the rim with dunks when the ball is dumped off to him. He looked good!

Impressive coaching staff at Alabama. I wonder if Cliff knew that posting up on the block was not going to happen.

Alabama's version of Cliff would be perfect for Harper and Bailey. Bummer.

Yup, perfect fit for what we needed. If only we had an extra 7 figured laying around *sigh*

Of course he knew, I'm sure it's all anyone would tell him. It's how he's best used.

I don't want to see 1 traditional post touch this year from RU. None of the bigs are allowed to post up on the ball side post with Harper and Bailey here. Even JWill does a good job at looking to dump off for dunks when he drives.

Very curious to see if Pike can successfully adapt to having quality offensive players.

Yup. I honestly think it may have contributed to why he left. It wasn’t our fault but we didn’t have the right guys to use him that way and it hurt his draft status.
He left for the money, not that there is anything wrong with that, we do have the right guys this year. I don’t think it has anything to do with his draft status, he is just limited offensively.

Yeah, a couple of us said it before last year. Mulcahy leaving would have a huge effect on Cliff, he was the only one remaining that could get him the ball in the right spots.

I can’t agree with this. To the extent that the freshman is on the court, he should be asked to contribute from the post – – he has moves.

Ace got a open 3 pointer out of a post touch against St. John’s, Dylan got Ogbole the ball down low and he made a quick accurate pass to Ace on the wing. We are not going to run a lot of the offense through the post.

You don’t have to adapt when you have guys who can get and make shots.

Cliff often dominated against lesser teams. Let's see how he does against Tennessee, Kentucky, and Arkansas.
Cliff is elite at what he does best. Rutgers asked him to do too much, probably with the effort to get him more touches. The RU offense was bad last year and they leaned on him too much. At Alabama, Cliff will be a great rim protector and will finish around the hoop. He will probably shoot 70% from the field this year. They are going to use him right and he is going to have a great year.

He left for the bag. Good for him. His last chance to cash in as he's never going to sniff the NBA. Gets a chance to play deep into the tournament in many peoples opinion. He's going to have to play over seas

It's all matchups. And feeds into the post could be to Ace, Derkack, Martini, even Harper.

All Cliff needs is a consistent 12'-15' jumper.. you make defender bigs respect that and in one dribble he could blow by them to dunk... since he can dunk from 10 feet away with his Stretch Armstrong arms... his Inspector Gadget arms.. two dribbles and he is dead.. giving up dribble and stopping.. TO machine..

May I say how refreshing it is to not have to worry about saying "all he needs is.." for our two young stars? I'm sure they can improve something.. but it doesn't seem to be urgent.. but we shall soon see.

The Husker fans thought he had nice potential...as a bench guy fighting for minutes and coming along slowly. Essentially the role he should have had here. He's not getting any opportunities there that he wasn't getting here.

I think he left because he was looking for someone to blame for not being able to live up to his opinion of himself. Now that he's been reset back to reality he will probably settle down to a reasonable rate of development and eventually be a good piece for Nebraska...or someone.

I'd love for him To succeed and get to the NBA. Great kid. But just dont think Cliff got it. Maybe he started too late. But for all his athleticism he still doesn't have that shot.

Dylan is going to be an NBA stud day one. May take a bit more polish for Ace but i expect both to be top 5 picks.
