Love the old Broncos, especially w/ the roof off. I can't believe how many people are riding around in Jeeps now, especially in town. On my block alone there are 7, 2 of which are in my driveway. Its easily the most popular car around here.

Smart move by them to bring it back

Back in the mid 70's, I am really old, I worked for the NJ Forest and Parks in the summer.
If I wasn't driving a beat up 4 wheel drive pickup, I was in a Bronco with lights and siren.
That thing had the hardest driving experience I ever encountered. But, it was kind of fun to bounce around the park in it.

My first car was a 1984 full-size Ford Bronco. This was about 1999/2000 when my father purchased it from an elderly man who bought it as a winter vehicle and almost never drove it. It only had like 40,000 miles on it. I drove it until close to 100,000 on it with very few problems. The thing was a beast, absolutely loved it. When I started going to RU, my dad sold it. I miss that thing so much. I was a pretty ugly color scheme--- here is the exact one:

I would love to own a new Bronco, however, I despise car payments and don't have the cash to put out for it.

Bronco's american classic but always sort of seemed to be a lovable piece of crap that rusted out like no tomorrow. But would love a restored Bronco. Not sure if I like the new look so much.

I rode in my sisters new Jeep Cherokee a few years ago and it was a pretty stiff/bumpy ride. She wasn't happy with it , and traded it in for a new Toyota Highlander. She was very pleased with the Highlander overall..

Used to lease Eddie Bauer models for my two oldest when they were in college. (reward for them not costing me college costs).

Plus you got a piece EB luggage.

Decent in the snow.

Jeep Rubicon was the worst ride I ever was in....neck brace and chiropractic appointment after you went off road with it...

I think Ford did a great job here. Much better than Land Rover with the Defender. They also solved the Jeep problem with removable doors. Jeep is about to lose a lot of sales.
jury may be out on that with Jeep and Ford has a lot to prove with this vehicle. Would have liked it to be more of a Bronco and not as much of a copy though

You got your wish then. It looks more like the original Bronco than any of those other vehicles. It also looks more like the original Bronco than the 2nd to 5th generation Broncos.

Jeep Wrangler is one of the most purpose-built vehicles on the US market today and it seems as though it’s soon to enjoy some competition. These things are going to be stiff and rough-riding on roads. That’s not what they’re made for.

Having a storied heritage can really be so difficult to live up to. How can you possibly make a modern Defender that lives up to the original? Agreed though that it appears Ford’s done better with Bronco Redux than LR.

What are the new ones going for price wise?

$30K base on a 2 door. Not sure Ford announced a 4 door price but think I saw $34 or $35 in one of the headlines.

Should start cheaper, even if they need to strip some content, imo.

I will concede it isn't far off the 66-77 model but no where near the "look" most of us know Bronco by which was the larger post 78 model. Just looking too much like a few of the others out there today. Curious to see if it catches on with the upper middle class like Jeep has

By making an Ineos Grenadier?

There's a lot of room between the 2016 and 2020 Defenders. They could have done much better. New one's nice on its own but not as a Defender. $50K ..lol.

There was a big change between 1st and 2nd gen, the latter becoming a full-size SUV ...with 2 doors. Not really practical now. The shorter 2-door will be better for off-road purists while the 4-door and Sport will be more practical for other buyers. Surprised they didn't keep the two-door closer in size to the Wrangler, though ...it's more than half a foot longer ..and a foot and a half longer than the 1966 Bronco.

Nice - they built a Toyota 4-Runner

Maybe you are thinking of an FJ Cruiser? Certainly not a 4runner.

The FJ Cruiser doesn't look much like the older Toyota Land Cruisers at all IMO. In fact it looks like a copy of an early Bronco design, which this of course is intended to resemble.

C’mon, the 4Runner can be quite competent off-road. At least he didn’t say, “Nice - they built a RAV-4”.

No arguments there. I had a blast off-road with 4runners ...they're especially fun when someone else owns them ; )

I just meant it looks nothing like the 4runner. Maybe the Bronco Sport ...haven't looked too closely at that one, not sure I will. But that's not the real story, anyway.

Restored ones are definitely nice. Think I'd go for an International Scout if I was going that route, though. Maybe an FJ40.

Agree but I don't think LR even tried that hard. They just made another soccer mom SUV for dads.

@fsg2 Ineos Grenadier has the styling right but not sure they have the R&D to make the tech work. The Bronco will have all the benefit of the F 150 behind it.

You want to talk about rusted out ... i've had 2 jeep wranglers. the first i got senior year at RU. I drove that thing on the beach in the sand in the summers and up to the mountains in the winters. So it was exposed to salt air and salt on the roads in the winters. after 7 or 8 years driving the first wrangler I could see the ground through a hole in my floor board! didnt stop me from buying a second one later in life though ! This new bronco looks pretty cool. I'd like to give it a test drive and compare

Any fans out there? Very smart to challenge Jeep in a profitable and uncontested segment. Can’t wait to see the comparisons.
I’ve been waiting for years for the release

droce a 2020 rubicon 4 door the other day. Horrible ride and death wobble at 80. $58k price tag to boot. No thanks. I’ll be ordering a Bronco for next summer delivery. Went to see them in person to decide 2 or 4 door.

Does not scream Bronco....screams copycat

Nice - they built a Toyota 4-Runner

I think it very march looks like a Bronco, not the 80's version, the one's from the early 70's.

Edit: I see others have already expressed this sentiment.

Anyways I think it looks great. The 80's Bronco pics posted above look like turds.

Think these vehicles are not designed for 80 mph handling. Think you will be disappointed with the Bronco as well. The 32" tires are not for high speed driving. I do hope it offers a better ride at normal speeds than the Wrangler.

Yeah, I definitely would not be standing in line for a gen 1 off-roader from a petrochemical company, lol. Originally they said it would be $25K or something but looks like it might end up being as much as Bronco and Wrangler, if not Defender. Billionaire vanity project. Look forward to the videos and maybe a test drive, hard pass on buying one.

The Bronco will have independent front suspension as opposed to Jeeps rigid front end. Should help with highway ride. I have 35” tires on my 2500hd with 4.5” lift and that truck rides down the highway like a Cadillac.
