The first words from mission control to the astronauts were a humorous welcome home: "Thank you for flying SpaceX."
The successful landing is a monumental achievement for NASA, which proved its ability to send astronauts to space from American soil, and SpaceX, the darling of billionaire founder Elon Musk, which beat out industry titan Boeing to send the first manned mission as part of NASA’s commercial crew program.

VERY cool to watch. Took quite awhile to get them out once on board the recovery ship.
Good to not have to write a check to Russia anymore. My understanding is that Boeing will be in September and then another SpaceX soon to follow.

For a good portion of hatch door purge the recovery crew were only wearing what appeared to be common face masks that Americans are SUPPOSED to be wearing on the streets. Interesting.

Tidbit I learned from news conference. Bob's wife will be pilot on crew 2 mission. Pretty rare and special for them.
