So will be taking family to DFW for a wifey company outing last weekend of May. I suspect the majority of driving will be between Love Field and hotel in Arlington, but will likely seek out a few destinations closer to Ft. Worth. Is the unlimited EZ toll option for $28.00 with rental car worth it? Thanks.

EZ tag user in Houston area. Have had it so long I don’t remember the before. I would say yes, just because you could drive anywhere and not have to stop somewhere and pay (that’s the part I don’t remember well). And you would not be trying to find routes that weren’t part of EZ. My kids, 40’s, would just uber every where and not rent a car.

Rental car tolls are a pain in the butt. I recently exited the Kansas Turnpike in a spot that doesn't have a toll booth. So I made a note of it, and went online after the trip and paid the toll - I think it was $8.

A couple weeks later, the rental car company sent me a letter saying they assumed I hadn't paid the poll, so they were charging me $35 "to cover their costs." I had to spend half an hour on the phone and email them my receipt, to "prove" to these effing thieves that I had paid the toll, and that there was no cost to them. They finally agreed to drop the charge.

So if you are going to use the toll roads at all, I would probably pay the $28 just to avoid crap like this.

There's no direct toll roads between Love Field and Arlington. Unless you have to go to Southwest Fort Worth or somewhere north of Dallas, you don't need to take a toll road.

I am so far removed from this I cannot even imagine. I mean, we have a total of 160 miles of road here. Want to go further, it is a trip in a small airplane. I guess those are our toll roads?

I spend 6 mos a year in N.Texas. Just go ahead and use the toll roads. The rental company will bill your card in about a month for the charges. There is no such thing as toll plazas these days, it's all done by plate readers. The local toll road authority is NTTA, their toll tag is good for all toll roads in TX, OK, KS, CO, and FL. FYI, the toll charges down here are not all that expensive, I doubt you'd use up $28 worth of toll charges.
