In Clarksdale, the Lofts at the Five and Dime is a great place to stay (i'm from the delta and have no desire to stay in a shotgun house). It is "downtown" and near Yazoo Pass, which is a great place to eat or get coffee, but eat at Ground Zero for sure, just for the ambiance.

Funny story about the Crystal. When I was first dating my wife (who is from Virginia), we were in Mississippi visiting family. We had planned a big group dinner at the Crystal and my wife was just silent about it, no questions about the food, what to wear, nothing. So we go to dinner and have a great meal. Once we get back from dinner my wife confesses she thought we were going to Krystal like the hamburger place. She was freaking out thinking my family was going to a fast food place for our "nice" dinner. Her mind had been blown about what she was soon to be marrying into. Got quite a laugh out of that at the time and still mess with her anytime we're at home and going there for dinner.
