5th pick in 65 - right after Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus. NYGs had #1 pick and took Tucker Frederickson who had 17 combined TDs in 6 years. Joe Namath was 12th. NYG's draft history is not a good one

So if what you're saying is correct, the Bears had both the 3rd and 4th overall pick. Not bad.
