So much for me saying "The Buzz buzz is fading..." yesterday.

Now I'd assume that the fans of his school are saying the same things about Buzzy that Maryland fans are saying about Willard. There's nothing new under the sun...

I see a bunch of Maryland fans dont want Buzz including a vid I watched on youtube...they actually had dave cox high on the list..bahahahahaha

i dont think the Big 10 is a good league for inexperienced coaches...very tough to build yourself....experience matters over taking the uconn assistant coach or the 1 year geo mason coach who was assistant at Maryland

Well, this worked out very nicely for Maryland. Buzz doesn't seem to like growing old in any one place, but he'll beat Willard's three years, I'm sure. He can coach, too.

Somehow Maryland without an AD can hire a coach within 48 hours and get a winning P4 one at that. Why can't Rutgers change a light bulb without ban AD?
A million people on here claiming we can’t do anything until one is hired and this seems to go against that point

Not only do they hire one but they hire one who they have to pay well

Then again… also makes you wonder who’s actually calling the shots at the big schools

this discussion seems odd not really thinking its a great move...the guy has won games period, seems like journalists want their buddies to get hires rather than be objective

what the **** Maryland is a good program but nowwhere near a top program where people should look down on Buzz getting hired and the comment about Buzz being a preacher is bizarre

Greg is calling the shots here...but its not like Holloway isnt still president, why couldnt he hire an ad....why is the school so f'd up that will tolerate this situation..it wouldnt happen at 95% of big time schools...sadly we are nowhere near big time

Yeah, that's the weird thing to me, the school has a president, why they need to wait to hire an AD is beyond me.

Again my thoughts of a lesser name but upcoming talent didn't get the job, but I did read that Maryland is expected to make Buzz one of the top paid College HCs upping his salary from the $4.6 million he was expected to receive from Texas A&M .
Also it seems like once the Willard fiasco started Williams it was rumored Buzz was very interested in going to Maryland
>On Saturday, it was revealed by Maryland insider Jeff Ermann that Buzz Williams is one of several names the Terrapins are looking at as Willard's replacement:
"It's also obvious that Buzz Williams is pushing hard for the job. The Texas A&M coach is ready to move on and has staged a full-on campaign for the Maryland job. That doesn't mean he'll get it. Of course, but he's the only name loudly floated."

I wonder how the Horny fans felt about Buzz wanting to go to Maryland and leaving the toads behind .
Seems like they knew he wanted out , but that wasn't being reported like Willard's should I go or should I stay act was

I thought they said in the fall AFTER the new president

who will do the hiring
That's the guess , first President and then the AD.
I would imagine in the process of interviewing candidates for President their views on what type of Athletic Director they would want would be one of the issues talked about .
Once the President is hired, he/she will move quickly in hiring an AD from the list of candidates Rutgers was considering

I stand correct on the toads and even though Buzz wasn't campaigning for the job, it was known he was interested in being Willard's replacement. What was going on behind the scene , if anything, was kept under wraps but the rumor was out that he wanted the Maryland job.
Willard wasn't campaigning for the Nova job, he just let it be known he wasn't happy at Maryland the way things were there and leaving wasn't out of the question if he didn't get the assurances he wanted
At least public it seemed that way

No real AD is going to go to a place where they don't know who their boss would be. And that would be the President. Similarly, no real AD would take a job where they report to .500 football coach.

And yet right now we have a failing basketball coach making 3.5 million and reporting to no one.
We have an interim AD at the moment. When your AD leaves in scandal in the middle of the year, it causes chaos like we are in now. This isn't a surprise given the circumstances.

But my point remains. No real AD will take a job without knowing who their boss will be. President first, then the AD. That's the order.

Buzz Williams is a home run hire for Maryland . What the issue was at Texas A& M is unclear but he made them relevant and highly ranked the last few years. He can also recruit as he has to as 4 guys including Gillespie and Rice hit the portal and Queen will go in the draft and Reese graduates.
