Bob Knight's contract is not being renewed by ESPN. He is 74 years old now. I wonder if the BTN tries to hire him.

Why would the BTN hire him after all he is 74 years old? The younger audience would not know who he is and what he has achieved and the older audience (like myself) would not care based on his antics with Indiana University.

Bob Knight is my favorite announcer in any sport because he literally doesn't give a **** what the network wants him to do or say.

I hope BTN hires him within the hour.

My heart was breaking for Bob Wischusen the other night during the Temple-Miami game, listening to him try too lasso that rude, grumpy old fool

I actually really liked him as an announcer although I admit I didn't watch any games he has done for a couple years. Old age may have gotten to him.

I assume that every part of CPCU's post was supposed to be ironic.

Same thought that I had. He never tried to devlope a whole team. He acknowledged that. He only wanted 1 or 2 guys to shoot and everyone else to play sidekick.

Raftery will be 72 in a couple of weeks, and Dickie V will be 76 before next basketball season starts--though they are reducing his status. Far as Bob Knight's antics--his former players are fiercely loyal. As for a TV analyst--you want a nice guy that knows little about basketball and provides few if any insights and lots of human interest, or a guy that can be cranky when he sees bad play, but provides lots of insights and little human interest?

I agree 100%. I never loved his antics as a coach, but I find his commentary to be the most informed, insightful, unbiased and entertaining.

Given his history as a coach, it would have been interesting to hear his take about the Mike Rice saga, only ESPN put a muzzle on him, or at least knew enough not to take a dip into those waters.

I know people who were close to IU's program and lawyers who represented some of the player's parents. You wouldn't believe the way he treated some of those kids. You are half right, some of his players are fiercely loyal. But there are also a lot of them who wouldn't walk across the street to piss on him if he was on fire. They tend not to speak up because they would be accused of being pussies and wimps by the Knight lovers and loyalists, so you don't hear from them so much.
