Ha. What an ignorant thoughtWeight loss
ResMed is the way to go. Airsense mentioned above is one of their products. They also have a mini version that was released at MedTrade that makes it easy to travel with. It was named most innovative product in sleep category.
Ha. What an ignorant thought
Ignorant how? You know nothing about the guy and assume it’s weight realated. You said yourself the vast majority are weight related but it isn’t always the case. How could you even begin to know his situation. My dad has had apnea for 10 years and has always been in the best shape.Ignorant how? The vast majority of sleep apnea is caused by being overweight and abundant tissue growth in the anterior compartments of the neck.
If you’re an adult and develop OSA, it’s most likely weight related. There are exceptions but they are exactly that, exceptions.
I’m assuming we’re not discussing central sleep apnea. Pediatric sleep apnea can be caused by tonsillar hypertrophy. But your lymphoid tissue regresses with age and adults don’t typically have enlarged tonsils.

Not offended at all.Sorry you’re so offended.
My initial comment was mostly in jest but also true for most.

Some people have sleep apnea and it is not related to weightI second the weight loss. Diet and exercise.
I have had this since high school and I am early 50s now. My snoring was legendary and scared the crap out of people when they thought I stopped breathing (which I had). I only started on cpap about 10 years ago. Life changing for me.weight loss is not the answer for everyone - it is for obstructive sleep apnea in some cases, but a small percentage of people have Central Sleep apnea where there is a disruption in the brain as it pertains to breathing. If CPAP isn't your thing, there are many new dental appliances out there as well - data/review is still mixed on them. In my practice, I've seen benefits for some and not others. Not sure they're any less uncomfortable than a CPAP though. Good luck.
Let me know if you need any guidance or assistance getting it.
