I'm currently going through a very frustrating experience where some fraudulent credit card charges are now impacting my credit. Any advice is appreciated!

The long version: Had fraudulent charges on my card in August. My disputed claims were initially rejected, but finally the charges were refunded in Dec. All that time, I only paid the balance of the card which I was responsible for.

Now, I see the bank/credit grantor reported my payments as delinquent to the credit reporting agencies. Even after their findings that the charges were fraudulent, my credit reports are showing no remediation.

What am i missing? I have all the documentation saved and sent it along to the big 3, but this process seems to be going nowhere. Do I just need to wait until all records are updated and they get updated info from my bank? Do i need to go through CFPB to get any traction?

This sh*t is so frustrating!

It is the bank's responsibility to correct this mess. If it is a State chartered bank, contact the NJ Dept of Banking and Insurance.

From their site: http://www.state.nj.us/dobi/consumer.htm

"We at the Department of Banking and Insurance and Real Estate Commission are ready to answer any questions or inquiries you may have or open a formal complaint via our Consumer Inquiry and Response Center (CIRC)".

If it is a National Bank you should contact the Federal Reserve's Consumer Help Division at:

Thanks. It's Bank of America, and they were utterly useless during the initial dispute. Guess I'll have to go "above" them once again.

PSA for anyone who finds fraudulent charges on their credit card: Always report the card lost or stolen, even if you still have it. It will make the process much easier for yourself.

I work for one of the big three. Try calling Experian’s National consumer assistance center (NCAC). They will help. Otherwise drop your contact info and I can walk you thru it

I work for BOA as a Sales Manager with Merrill Edge and would be happy to assist. No solicitations or advice, merely resolution.

Dispute the items on your credit reports with the three agencies. Some people suggest not using their online tools to do so and instead mail a dispute letter due to the terms of service attached to the online tools (such as waiving your right to sue the agency).

Also file a complaint with the CFPB.

You might also want to go into a physical BoA branch and speak with the branch manager and ask him/her to help you resolve the issue.

It's amazing how many horror stories I hear about with boa, yet they've always been great for me.

Bank of America is horrible.
I have had a series of bad experiences with BOA over the past 10 years, starting with a fixed rate line of credit for my business--which they unilaterally closed, then opened a fresh one with a variable rate, then doubled my previous rate. All this at a time when the prime rate went DOWN to near zero during the banking failures. Don't even talk to me about their mortgage division.
