We had a baby boy on the 8th. Friend of mine gave us a Hatch +. Pretty cool night light, sound machine and monitor all in one.

We generally found that, when it came to baby equipment, simpler was better.

First baby--all the stuff.
Second baby--half of it we never got out.
Third baby--wing it. You'll hardly notice.

This. We inherited some old-school baby monitor radios, and bought some fancy cameras. Pretty shortly thereafter we mainly just used the simple radios bc if you can’t trust it to work 100% of the time then what’s the point.

Baby monitor talk on the pack...I can’t decide if this is the most appropriate or the most disappointing thing ever.

Exactly.

My advice to new parents who are making a baby shower registry: get some parents who have at least two kids put the list together.

I thought you were having a lizard problem. Those baby monitors will tear up a lawn worse than mole crickets.

You know the quickest way to make a baby cry? Get it’s mother naked!

My kids are grown now but when they were young we had a Fisher Price one, this was 20+ years ago. One night wife and I sitting there and start hearing a conversation over the monitor, its the single young lady next door on her old cordless phone talking to a friend about how disappointing the sex was on her date the night before. It was classic, I could never look at her again w/out snickering to myself.

Owlet all the way. We didn't have one, but my brother and my wife's brother both swear it saved one of their kids' lives.

3 kids in, I’d say video is overrated. Get an outlet based audio monitor. Sound is what wakes you.
