OT: B1G Basketball & Hockey Doubleheader @ MSG

I apologize if this was discussed before, but every year, the B1G is going to have a basketball/hockey doubleheader on the same day at MSG. This year was Mich v. PSU in the afternoon for basketball and the same teams again in the night for hockey. Attendance for the basketball game was 12,108, and for hockey it was 13,479. I thought that was a pretty good showing.

Next year we play in the basketball game vs. Wisconsin, but OSU steps in for us for the hockey nightcap.

I went to the Hockey Game on Saturday Night. They had a 28, 000 - 2 event total.

I also in passing got to meet, and speak with Brad Traviolia who is the Deputy Commissioner and COO of the Big Ten Conference for about 10 minutes
Incidentally he was at our Wrestling Match as well the night before.

Really nice Guy.

Really?
There was no advertising at all, I did not even know about it and I watch all sorts of sports.

I hate both schools and also MSG so I would not have gone anyway, but it sounds like a good idea.

Rutgers needs a D1 mens ice hockey program.

its a bad idea for a terrible Rutgers basketball program to participate in this next year. RU has played a few games there in the last 5 years and had terrible attendance level. I don't see why RU fans would pay extra money to see RU play Wisconsin when they weren't going to see RU play SJU. We likely will be outnumbered for our own home game

It was all over the Big Ten Network for well over a month.... and judging by the attendance most people got the word.

There the crowd was like 60 - 30 - 10 Penn State.

They don't need to advertise pen st and Michigan, their alums are very proud of their schools and they also travel well.

Might be a better idea to make it a wrestling/hockey day from Rutgers perspective. Start the day with a tri-meet of RU/Wisconsin/Ohio State in wrestling and the end it with Wisconsin/Ohio State in hockey. Probably we would get more fans for wrestling than BB.,
