I never post on here but I read here for what’s going on with the Dawgs I know there are people on here who are experts about almost anything. I have a lot of pennies circa 1982. I have one as old as 1879. Does anyone know where I could find someone to look at these? I have a few thousand.

Like all collectibles it's all about condition but the rare key date coins do not have to be in top condition to command a good price. If you live near Meridian contact Paul or Jen Bucurel at United States Rare Coin & Currency. They should be able to help you with your collection.

There are people out there who regularly go to banks and get thousands of pennies to separate the copper ones by hand. They hoard the copper ones in the hopes that one day it will be legal to scrap them. The real serious ones buy these machines for hundreds of dollars that separate the pennies automatically. Seems like a lot of effort

I look forward to the day that it becomes legal to melt them...and the price of copper instantly tanks.
