Like passhole left lane drivers here is one I have come across quite often lately. When you are in line at a drive through the incompetent boob that has to maintain a two car gap at all times. They give their order and just pull forward where the back tires are still at the speaker even though there is a full car length of space to the next car. So you have to wait to give your order even though you heard the speaker go "can I help you?"

Or the ones that do that in a lane next to a turn lane just enough to close off the space that would allow you to get into said lane. But no, you end up missing the light because the guy wouldn’t inch up half a car length.

They need to have room to escape in case they get held up at gunpoint by someone in Madison at 1pm on a Tuesday

Had a guy this weekend race to wedge his way in front of me, thus blocking me from turning right. If he had just gotten behind me, I would have turned right and he would have been in the exact same place in line.

I even had my turn signal on. I really need to tailgate the cars in front of me.

That guy gets around. He did it to me too. Use the app gramps, skip the drivethru.
I dont want apps for all the random drive-thrus. Having an app for Wendys when I go there like once every 6-8 weeks is of 0 interest to me.

Also, when/how do you order on the app if you are driving to the fast food restaurant?
- Do you order well ahead of time before you leave wherever you are? If so, hasnt the food been sitting since it takes like 90 seconds after ordering to get your food when there is no line?
- Do you order while driving? No judgement, but that just seeems like an obvious thing to not advocate for by the restaurants.
- Do you order when you get there an sit in the parking lot? If so, that seems kinda redundant and you could just sit in line instead.

I guess I am a gramps. I understand the appeal of apps if you rack up rewards and want to use the 'buy 2 sandwich for the price of 1' offerings, but it seems like you need to be a pretty frequent user for that to be worth it.

I used to do it when my daughter played soccer. The fields were 3 minutes from McDonald’s so she’d get in the car. I would order, (normally I had enough points or there was a special that saved me money). Pull up, give my code, pull up to the second window and be on my way.

Yeah, that is definitely a scenario where it could work well. Close enough to not have the food sit for long and its part of a routine so the app gets regular use.

I used to get apoplectic at folks doing nonsense like this. Now, I mostly feel sorry for them - oftentimes some poor soul who feels zero control over what happens to them, so they have to play little games like this to exert any authority into their own lives.

Or who knows, maybe they're just not paying attention very well at that particular moment.

Assuming that someone is actively driving because they are behind the wheel is the problem. Idiots on cell phones…

I don't speak whatever language drive through workers speak so I just don't use them. Between their speech habits and the cheapest speaker the installer could find at a garage sale installed on the menu board, its not worth getting my blood pressure up.

Not to mention with the sheer volume of food a Sixpacker requires, it's a hassle to pass that much through the window

It is amazing the extent to which people are oblivious to others and think only of themselves. The entrance to my neighborhood doesn't have a dedicated turn lane, but if the first car pulls all the way up at the light you can easily make the right turn in. But never fails, some car will stop about 12 feet short, blocking the way, not bothering to move up a little help out the person behind them who is obvously trying to turn in. And it's a loooong light.

Also, people on their phones while driving is now more common than not. Lakeland Drive in Jackson is just a sea of people moving three wide at about 35 in a 50 while occasionally bothering to glance up from their phones at the road.

Then they speed up when they happen to notice you've gotten a little daylight and try to pass them. I also don't understand speeding up to not get passed.

I feel like there are half of us lodging these complaints and half of us causing them. Either completely oblivious or intentional. Yet 90% of people will let you in to bumper to bumper traffic when you get their attention so maybe it’s just oblivious.

Had a couple of pretty bad road rage texts in a group text this morning. Cars trying to run each other off Hwy 49 from Florence to I-20 during rush hour this morning. And a woman drops her 2 kids off at daycare in Madison, then the woman in front of her at the 463/I-55 interchange doesn't go quickly enough when the light turns green. So instead of honking, she pulls out a gun and shoots the womans car up. Fortunately, no one was hurt. But she's in jail now. What the 17 is wrong with people?

Apps are the only way to go if you do fast food. I pick up breakfast most mornings. There are many app exclusive deals at all of the places. McDonald's has buy one breakfast sandwich get another for free right now. It also makes ordering much more straight forward especially if you want customization such as no pickles. This way you only have to say picking up OJ41 or your name depending on the place. They all have GPS so they don't start the order til you get close. I am able to pay with a virtual card to provide an additional layer of protection and don't have to pull out a wallet or hand someone my phone. You also get points even when you use the deals so you can use rewards if there is not a deal you are interested in.

At Sonic I do order on the app instead of the drive-up because again i don't have to worry about the communication breakdown. It's all spelled out for them. Even at other places if there are 3 or 4 people in line for the speaker much more simple to use the app and then just say pickup when you get to the speaker.

Also i have had much more satisfaction when they do screw up an order. You just post a complaint in the app and you get credit for your next visit or something of that nature.

At this point I don't understand anyone who actually orders at the speaker.

It's like Sam's Scan and Go. Why is anyone standing in a checkout line?

Im more suspect of the apps. With everything else that is tracked, I dont need mcds doing it too.

The world's worst mcds is in this parking lot, going through the drive thru is a 50/50 of them getting it wrong. I love breakfast there, sausage mcmuffin with egg, hash browns, and black coffee. 3 out 5 in the week they would get one of 3 items completely wrong. I switched to walking in, and now im just ignored, so they will fill the order correctly though, just takes an extra few minutes.

My wife, more chill than me, has the app, swears they never make a mistake (a lie, she just accepts chicken nuggets instead of the big Mac she orders).

I have never had a mistake from the app. I trust me entering in the information that is delivered straight to a screen than me speaking that order through a speaker to someone then punching it in. Although most have verification screens. I’m the same way with call in to go orders at restaurants. You should have an online order option or I’m less likely to order. People screw up writing things down vs me selecting it online.

That’s true but I skip someone when it’s two lanes and I pull up, give my number before the person in the other lane completes their order. Plus they have them pull up if my order is ready and theirs is not.

Of course they have those stupid metric programs that have time to order completions where places make you pull up even if nobody is in line.

Drivers that piss me smooth the 17 off are those that fly like a bat out of hell to pass you and as soon as they do lock up the brakes so they can make a rh turn off the highway. You glance back behind you and there was plenty of space for him to just pull in behind you for the last 200ft he has to travel and then take the exit.

What kills me are the people who need to look at the chicfila menu for 3 minutes after already sitting in line for 5 minutes. Like they’ve never eaten there before. It’s chicken sandwich, nugs, strips, a salad, or wrap. How hard can this decision be? Just pick one already

This. The original complaint was the people in line who dont move along, not the inability to communicate.

Use the apps. Park your car at the store and go inside to get your order. Usually way faster than the drive through line, and you save a little gas.

App or no app, it's almost always faster to go inside to get your food than go through the drive through. Speaking of apps though, one thing that p*sses me off about the CFA app is I can order on the app then drive to the restaurant. But they don't start making my order until I get there. I mean, I've already paid for it. Go ahead and start making it so it'll be ready when I get there. How hard is that?

That’s why I don’t really care for the Sonic app. Especially since our Sonic is slow as Christmas.
