And now we know why Texas schools perform so badly. Misplaced priorities.
Well, I might agree with you but look at the money thrown supposedly at academics in Newark, Paterson, etc. and tell me that has turned out well. Probably been better outcomes if they put that money into athletic fields.

Prosper ISD is very good. Doesn’t mean I agree with spending $90mm on a stadium. But it’s a wealthy suburb with a lot of tax revenue. Probably too much. My wife is a counselor in Prosper ISD. Fun fact, Dione Sanders used to live there until recently.

Of course not, same with heart disease, and that is not even being cynical, that is just the reality of understanding the $s involved in those industries, and yes, they are industries.

If Pfizer discovered a molecule tomorrow that could halt atherosclerotic plaque development in humans, why wouldn’t they want to sell that?

How many years before a generic is available, 20 years, right, why kill the gravy train with one pill.

So rather than reap the revenue rewards from the biggest blockbuster drug in the history of mankind, even if for a finite amount of time, Pfizer would prefer to risk that Merck discovers a similar drug in 2024?

In what universe does that make sense?

The one that might help some of us or our family with a cheaper price of the medicine?

And this coming from a someone who’s family has very big Pfizer and Merck holdings.

You don't think these companies work together, and don't tell me this gov't would get involved to stop it, when the gov't would likely be the entity coordinating it.

You're really defending $90m on a high school football stadium? It's a very poor use of wealth. They could send that money to cancer research somewhere.
I see no issues with it
Football is important in Texas
I wish NJ schools had that this of passion and $ commitment

Respectfully, I don’t understand your post.

All I’m suggesting is if the basis of this idea is that “there is no money in a cure.” That points to profit motives and greed. If a pharma company was staring at the biggest drug in the history of man, one that would drive absurd revenue for the entirety of tue careers of those who would discover it and sell it, why would they sit on it?

That would be the opposite of being profit driven.

I worked at Pfizer, it was ingrained in us to hate Merck. Think Red Sox and Yankees. These companies spend ungodly amounts of money to gain market share over the others.

Texas schools are very good in any place that has population. The extreme rural areas though? Not so much, funding + teachers arent there. People dont realize how big Texas is.

Prosper though for perspective is the #1,429 best school district in America. For perspective, that puts them right in line with Hillsborough and Ramsey for NJ comparison sake.

That is what they tell the peons, in the board rooms and the gov't offices it's another story.

So this is a “Deep State” type conversation? I’m interested in learning more from your vast experience in the board rooms of Big Pharma. Be careful and make sure there isnt a black van outside your home first.

Christ.

Understand giving up a source isn't the right thing to do at times, but believing someone that claims to have a good source and won't provide the source has proved a risky thing to do on anonymous message boards and in real life

I’m not saying sit on it.

If it is something this important, I’m saying make it available and easy as soon as possible.

94 million for a HS football stadium is more proof of how screwed up Texas is. Please don't shoot me for saying that.

Texas has long ranked near the bottom in most categories. #facts

Surprised? It borders Mexico
I don’t think it’s at the bottom though.

Also, let’s look at college football attendance. Compare New Jersey Univ to the Univ of Texas or Texas A&M.

I went to a high school game in the Dallas suburbs 10 years ago, the night before we played at SMU. I was so impressed by how many people showed up for a high school game!
I’d like to go to a high school game in Texas again, especially now that I have a friend in the Dallas suburbs
