If Oscar keeps it up and wins NPOY, he will be only the second player in UK history to do so. My friends and I had this discussion today...if he wins it, does his jersey go into the rafters? It will only be (potentially) one season, but it's been a historic one. We haven't seen an individual season like this since Davis. However, like I said, potentially only one season and I know that may not be popular with a segment of the fan base. Also, how well the team does in the postseason may play a factor. Just curious how the folks of RR felt about this.

I would be good with one of the two following scenarios:

if this team wins a title and he opts for the draft, hang it.

If we fall short, he returns and wins the title with similar to better averages, hang it.

He’s incredible. But to me, the rafters are for players that contributed either 4 years of growth (eventually leading to being a stellar junior or senior) or they contribute a title while boasting a great single or two seasons (like Davis and potentially Oscar).

Just my 2 cents.

If Oscar scores 600+points and grabs 600+
rebounds (would be 1st UK player to ever accomplish the feat and probably the last)
and he leads UK to #9, yes he absolutely deserves to be in the rafters and will be!!!

If Oscar goes for 600 and 600 and UK wins it, I believe it would go down as the single greatest season individually in UK history.

Thats a solid 3. My top 5 are:

Pelphrey
Master
Padgett
Oscar
Mashburn
Mashburn
DA
Rondo
Boogie
Oscar

I guess that would be mine without thinking too much.

Edit: that’s literally in order of my fandom. Barely remember Mash but I remember he/they got me started as a little chap.

Óscar is a ******* warrior! The dude never quits and is the epitome of a warrior! If he was in the military, there is no doubt in my mind that the dude could be a badass delta operator if that was his desire(Airborne Ranger here)..my cock gets Rock solid when I see him knocking dudes off the block, because some of em are big cats as well…he’s the kind of guy you look at in the huddle and know he’s going to do his job;you never have to worry about him..give me that guy by my side on a raid all day long..championship or not, dude has heart and that my friends is sometimes all you need

Unless they've changed the criteria recently, there is a waiting period before a jersey can be retired.

"To get a jersey retired, a player (or coach) must have been gone from Kentucky for 10 years and have first been elected to the UK Hall of Fame."

"It is five years after a player (or coach) departs UK before he or she is eligible for election to the UK Hall of Fame."

If he wins NPOY and also holds the single season rebounding record then I think you’ve got to put him up there. If you are #1 on Kentucky’s career or single season record book for a major stat, it’s deserved.
