******* Ducks...They could be in the playoff hunt if they could have just finished off Auburn...

I mean, not really. Nebraska barely squeaked by U of I and Northwestern who was starting backups at QB and RB.

Good point. I guess I’m still salty for blowing a 17 point late 3rd qtr lead and for the piss poor play calling/execution in overtime. 5-1 would be pretty sweet right now.

If you're referring to University of Illinois, we more than doubled their total yardage, and ended up with 700 yards of offense. We kept them in the game by continuing to turn the ball over. We had, I believe, 4 TOs.

Northwestern's QBs are 1A and 1B, and are equally average.

It was Northwestern's QB 3 as 1B was already injured and out for the year.

As Frost said, you can't run from who you are/where you are. So far this year, Nebraska has been a below average football team.
Year 2 isn’t even in the books yet, I’d say we’re better than last year which means we’re improving. JMO

Maybe if Nebraska and cu can get to 6/7 wins, they can meet in the Pinstripe Bowl for a revenge grudge match!

Compared to where we are after 6 games to last years team after 6 games, I would put money on last year’s team in a head to head. It doesn’t really matter much, because most have seemed to adjust higher expectations to nothing earlier than year 4 or 5.

True. I’d say we’re 1 year behind our (fans) expectations. The way we are performing this year is how we thought they’d perform last year. I largely blame the national media for pouring the kool aid.

I would take 4-2 vs 0-6 any day of the year. Don’t fool yourself wins matter.

If we can somehow find a way to win convincingly today and then follow that up with another one in 2 weeks we might crack the top 25 again. Voters only remember the last couple of weeks anyway so our 2 losses don't matter much anymore.

That would be nice but let’s take it 1 game at a time. I don’t feel we’re a team that should be ranked until we prove it. More like beating Wissy and Io_a..

Everyone on the planet would take it. But if it can be argued that last years 0-6 team is better than this year’s 4-2 team, is this year’s team really better? The record sure is better. Again, it really doesn’t matter as this is apparently a long term build.

Ranked in the top 25? You are crazy. We need to survive this game and get to a much needed break to reset and try to figure it out for the back half.

People just can't comprehend the hole in the middle of the roster that NU is working through right now. They took the maximum number of guys they could last year through signers and transfers.

That's how man upperclassmen they were missing just to get to 85 scholarships awarded.

Again I ask you, how many draft picks are on this team? Optimistically maybe 3 with Jackson being the only one with a shot at the early rounds and the rest being D-linemen.

I think we are clearly better at same point this year. Last year we invented ways to lose. This year, with no kicker, we are better. Maybe at the end of this yr we will be better than the end of last although we really didn’t beat anyone that great the end of last year so were we actually that good the end of last year?

The 2 things I took away from watching Oregon and CU last night was the speed that Oregon had coming off the edge at CU's QB and the overall speed on offense. They had ZERO snap issues and their QB was quick, decisive and accurate with his passes. We'll get there and we aren't as far off as getting beat by CU would make some think. We need a couple of pass rushers at OLB, consistent snaps and a little more athleticism from a couple of spots on our O line. CU couldn't handle Oregon's pass rush and Oregon's offense was hitting on all cylinders.

Nope!!
They did have a snap issue their first drive, but they are a good enough team at HCMC second year they were able to overcome. We’ll be there soon...

Yeah, I think the difference between this year and last year is that the breaks that went against us (wrong penalty calls/no calls that extend/stop drives, turnovers at the inoppurtune time, etc.) are now going our way. I will say that the team is learning how to win. Also, you can see flashes of how good they can be. I'm just patiently waiting for them to put a complete game together. I'm hoping it is tonight.

Well I didn't watch every play so I missed one. Their offense looked really good though. It helps to have a veteran O line and QB.

First drive of the game there was a center to qb miss-exchange and the ball went over Herberts head and ended up being 2 and 29 from their 25 yard line or so. I thought to myself glad we aren’t the only ones, then they made up for it on the next play with a pass for 23 yards or so making in 3rd and 6 or so.
Hopefully soon we have those issues fixed.

You might take a ton of heat or get thrown out for saying something so blasphemous on this board, but I agree.

Not to mention both Lenoir and Graham will play on sundays.. it doesnt hurt to have 2 excellent cbs to add to speed rushers ...

No, not that bad of a snap. Still reminded me of NE struggles this year. It was nice to see if only for a second.
