Opinions wanted. Stans the master schemer?

I have enjoyed watching the small ball we have been playing this year, although I do hate living or dying by the 3 (I think i even cussed the managers during the UM game). There is just one thing I cant figure out for myself. Did we go to small ball because Stans couldnt recruit another big man or was this his plan all along? I'm thinking maybe it was a little bit of both? Oh, and I'm not complaining about Stans recruiting. I think there arent many big men to get because they all go straight to the NBgay.

However we have had some bad luck with the ones that we do have. Kodi apparently does not like to practice. Elgin is a basket case but has potential. Brian Johnson can't get out of bed without getting injured. We need to use one scholarship to find the biggest goon we can find to give us 5 hard fouls a game next year.

We actually have a big options at the 4 if we were dead-set on playing big, but IMO Phil Turner was and is just outplaying them on the defensive end. I think the lineup is just as much about defense as it is trying to shoot people out of the building.

Stansbury's always emphasized defense. If Turner's outhustling and outplaying the majority of the taller players on the team on the defensive end, Stansbury's going to play him.

We have gone small because none of the big men Stans and Co have landed are able to play well enough to actually get into the game for extended time(sans Jarvis).
We have plenty of big men, just not plenty of good enough big men.

If they were all going to the 'NBgay'(that name is even worse than the thing you are making fun of), then other teams also wouldnt have big men...which we all know isnt the case since Turner keeps going up against 6'9 players.

I don't think he likes having to live and die by the three either, but being 6-3 in the SEC is a lot better than being 3-6 or worse, so I give him credit for that.

Brian Johnson got hurt, and has played better lately. Kodi had an opportunity and apparently has blown it, for this year at least. Osby has shown flashes, but he's just a Fr.

...and the ones he has recruited haven't developed.

But he basically had a run of very highly touted big man - Austin, Roberts, and Rhodes. He doesn't have that this year. Bailey, Augustus, and Varnado or much more like "projects" than Austin, Roberts, and Rhodes.

He needs to go sign another 5 star double, double every night stud.

And I give him credit for adapting to what he's got, because I think it's been hard for him to get away from what he's done his whole career.
