I’m having a friendly debate with a friend right now who’s a WVU Alum (B12 supporter). He says if the head coaching job was open at Rutgers and OK State...the attractiveness and job prestige to go coach OK State far outweighs Rutgers. I vehemently disagreed, I wonder what other people think.

The OSU BB program has a far better profile over the last few decades. RU profile improving but I wouldn't say it's quite there yet. RU needs more years with solid winning records and finishing in top half (at least) of B1G.

Oklahoma State is a higher profile job given their resources, level of sustained success and alumni donations

RU's ceiling is unimaginably high, much higher than OSU's, being in the world's #1 media market. Our performance in major sports, however, outside of the 2006 football team's magical win against Lousivlle and the '76 Final Four run (which is old enough now to almost not matter to most) has simply been abysmal as everyone knows.

RU could be in the future due to proximity to the media capital of the world.

Not much basketball talent in Oklahoma. In general, Oklahoma State is the little brother in most sports in that state. The Big Ten is better than the Big 12 and we are the only major school in athletics in our state. Oklahoma State is probably at or near its’ height in sports. The sleeping giant of Rutgers is just wiping the sleepy dust from our eyes the past few years. Wait until we stand up and start walking ! The past week in Rutgers sports is a sign of things to come in all sports.

with X random coach?

yeah, OKstate...

but, as we've learned, you never hire "X random coach" for an RU job... it has to be a destination.

No reason Rutgers can't be a Villanova or a Uconn of the early 2000s. We're not there yet obviously so maybe osu right now but our potential is greater.

OSU strictly for financial purposes.
Do people not realize Pikes next 5 years are 5 years for $16.1 mill.? Haha he gets paid significantly more than the OSU coach.

ironically with this argument i unequivocally say RU and ive said that the OSU coach is who we should poach if we were to ever move on from pike haha

I'd go w/ the Pokes. I know RU has a lower bar to meet but I don't think OSU is one of those schools with unreasonable expectations. I'm also thinking about Cunningham and I feel like having a great one-and-done type player in the past at a non-blue-blood has boded well for the program going forward. It may be that certain advantages are in place that get the stud player to enroll in the first place, and also help recruiting going forward, but that's still a factor
