Vinnie had an ongoing relationship with a woman from my hometown in the late 90s/early 2000s. My brother in law, at the time, was in a heavy metal band that had a large local following in Pittsburgh. He had met Vinnie and Dime on several occasions backstage when the band came through.
Phil was an anti-social *** who would never come off the bus, but Vinnie and Dime treated people like they knew them their entire lives.
Dime's first words to my brother-in-law were, "hey man! Looks like we got something in common!" This was in reference to the beer my BIL was drinking at the time. He came up to him and high-five/hugged him and they just hung out. Vinnie was of the same personality.
You can see how much Vinnie was loved, and Head from Korn has some good stories posted this morning on Vinnie's generosity and thoughtfulness.
The entire music scene, specifically the metal side, is rocked in a bad way with this news.
