if you picked 'no' you're an idiot.

thanks for playing, and merry christmas
Semantics play a part. If Howard says run it (I’m a traditional guy) then let’s roll! If he’s lukewarm, which he was, you let the Dad run the traps on it.

But I’m with you! As a fan, let’s see one of the best in the World as soon as we can see it!

As a Dad, it’s a tough call.

Agreed. If OSU could have several freshmen finalists that would be a great look. Keep the momentum rolling and keep the conversation on OSU.
That’s a thing too!

When all CP wants to talk about on Flo is Penn State, we have to do things that have to be discussed.

They should change the name of their podcast to something more appropriate to brown nosing Cael.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer here but I think people forget how hard the national tournament is. Especially for a freshman. I will be pleasantly surprised if we have a single finalist.

Penn State has freshman national finalists all the time and plenty of other schools have had them too.

It certainly wouldn’t shock me if none of our freshmen made the finals but it’s not like how it used to be where it was rare for freshmen to be elite.

No question it’s hard but we have 4 wrestlers who from a results and ranking standpoint could absolutely be finalist. That gives you a pretty decent chance to have one find their way there IMO.

Personally I want him to have a full year in the room; DI is different than HS. I want him to win 4 and think that gives him the best opportunity to do so. I think he's the best bet we have to win as a true FR and I think we have 3 or 4 finalist currently on campus returning for next year. Would love to have a team next year with 5 finalist and 3 more AA's.

But what do I know, I'm an idiot.

I may be alone in this but as badly as I want a team championship, a bunch of individual champions is a very close second. Let Jax loose!!
For sure, if you want immediate success, you want Jax to start this year; if you want to compile a stronger team for the future, you start him next year. I don’t think it is a foregone conclusion, despite what Willie says. Even if Jax starts this year, doesn’t mean he is an automatic champ and if we wait until next year, who says he is an automatic champ either, or who says he doesn’t have a change of heart and switch programs. I guess I just talked myself into hoping he starts this year.

If Jax wrestles, that would give us 3 real solid hopefuls for the:
-finals: Jax, Dee, Vega.
-Possible/probable finalists/podium Sprat, Robideau.
-Possible podium/AA Facundo and Doucet.
-AA/blood round Swid, Ryder, Merrill.
Solid possibilities and I think there can be upward movements as well. Maybe Swid, Merrill, Facundo and Ryder are still getting their sea legs? Good chance Sprat replicates last year’s results. I hope Robideau keeps on crushing it.

He’s had more time in that room than most realize I guess?

Times have changed, he’s ready and really can’t get more ready besides keeping him on a leash.

I doubt he's giving up being a 3x high school champ to come in at semester and just drill

He's coming to win the natty in April

Still in the Jax will be our 133 camp but I find it odd if that was the case the he is 1) wrestling at Powerade when he could wrestle at the Scuffle and 2) wrestling at 139 if he was planning on going 133 in a week or two.

I’m also bored and thinking of things to overthink.

Choosing not to cut for a HS tourney makes sense. And he could still do the Scuffle this weekend I suppose. Midlands is today, but I think it's an invite

Heres a thought/ question. If Jax comes in and joins the team how much of an increase in viewership do we see as a result? I could see a definite bump with people tuning in to watch Jax in every match. Crazy to think about how much one wrestler could impact something so much.

It would also dominate the wrestling media market and carry into the NCAA’s as he would be THE story ESPN focuses on.

His potential championship run would be the most talked about wrestling story and similar to Wyatt last year would garner national interest outside of the wrestling media and fan base.

Thats a big part of the allure for me in thinking it’s exactly what we should do. We have to keep OSU wrestling in the forefront and the momentum high. Hard to do with PSU running away with the team title again, but this would sure do it.

It will def put OSU Wrestling as trending #1 and force CP to talk about something other than PSU (I guarentee he finds himself finding a Segway into talking about them anyway.)

But yes, huge bump and enormous pressure on a young man. He’s already a diamond though, so he ain’t gonna crack!

Well aware that he's in the room and well aware that Freshman can come in an win NC's, especially kids of his caliber. I'd just rather him have a full year of DI wrestling vs just a half season. If the kid and coaches want to do it I'm certainly not going to stop them nor care if he does; I simply have an opinion based on years of data. Now there's always an outlier to the norm and Jax could be that one, I just think it sets us and him up better for him to come in next year.

It would certainly give folks plenty to talk about if he does compete this year and if wants that kind of pressure more power to the young man.

He was on the Senior Circuit since Prom as a junior.

He’s been rolling with and competing against the best on the planet.
