I think Austin and Dawson have been impressive on the recruiting trail. We haven't got guys like Robinson and Benhart in a while.

Having said that, has anyone else noticed how unbalanced our recruiting is on the lines? We currently have 3 HS OT's committed and another visited this weekend. We didn't sign a single OL recruit last year, so this would be two years in a row without a HS interior OL. Same on D, as we have two DE commits, with two more looking likely, but nothing on the interior, after not signing a HS NT last year. Maybe we can still get Pola-Mao at NT and maybe they plan to slide one or two of the HS kids inside, on the OL? Or maybe Piper starts at OG, instead of DE? Just seems pretty unbalanced at the moment.

Bland is an interior OL (if he makes it here), and Jurgens moved to Center. It's also possible the Farniok Bros could play inside.

Perhaps the staff feels good about some of our walk-ons at the interior positions. Hixson already cracked the depth chart as a redshirt freshman.

Lynn is being recruited for OG, Anderson and Benhart of course OT

For the time being Piper is scheduled for NT but I think that likely changes

I’ve also noticed some of the imbalance. I was just thinking how Piper may be more needed/better fit at OG.
A couple reasons I think are the staff had such little time last year to put a class together it put them behind the ball, plus they didn’t really know what they had on their roster until mid season I would say.
The rest could boil down to who they thought they could get, and what needs are most urgent. They could like certain walk-ons (e.g. interior OL).
Going into next cycle, the staff will really hone in on whatever needs remain.
Overall, they’re filling most needs the best they can. I’m hoping they finish this class strong which will make a difference.
