And oh, I read he could pitch in the playoffs. He throws 100mph, has a 38-19 record while he was playing for the crappy Angels, and averages like 13 Ks per nine innings pitched with a 1.08 whip.
Ho…. Lee…. Crap. What a player

I think with his versatility he is without a doubt in the conversation.

Josh Gibson
Babe Ruth
Ted Williams

All have a good argument
The combination of skills is something that nobody has ever seen before in any sport. It would be like having a QB that was also a DT and a WR and was elite at all three. Ohtani is not only a generational talent but a once in a LONG lifetime player. If he quit today he'd still deserve the HOF.
My only complaint is he went to the Dodgers. Play for a team that isn't already loaded.

If you are the Angels, how could you let a talent like him go? I get it that they didn't win with him, so it saved them alot of money letting him go, and they probably feel like they got burned with the Mike Trout contract, but just sell the team if you can't build a winner around that guy. Jeez.

He didn't want to be there. Can you blame him? They didn't sniff the playoffs a single time while he was there, and it sure wasn't his fault.

Home run # 51 was off a position player. Florida Marlins are famous for developing players and then letting them go to free agency.
Giancarlo Stanton and Jazz Chisholm to Yankees.
Luis Arreaz and Tanner Scott to Padres.
Two to the Braves, both home run hitters.
Only 2 or 3 pitchers that were on the roster after spring training are there now. The rest are injured.
Marlin ownership doesn't care if they win. They just want the divided baseball money. Jeter took off as soon as he saw the problem.
The manager opted out early in the season for next season.
Triple A club at best.
However, every game I attended this year the Marlins one!
I missed yesterday's game.

Not disagreeing with much you said, but the Marlins didn't develop Arraez. Unfortunately it's the way baseball works. Small market teams have to draft and develop players, and if they want to keep a guy long term they have to get them to sign an extension early. The Twins probably didn't think Arraez was the kind of guy you lock up to a big contract.

Pleased with the Royals brain trust and how they’ve embraced their place in the world

Being the GM of a mid- or small-market baseball team is probably the most difficult front office position in all of pro sports

Your correct in stating that the Marlins did not develop Luis Arreaz but the Marlins had to trade him because he was in the last year of his contract. I apologize for my error.

I certainly can't blame him. I'm questioning the Angel organization's ineptitude that prompted a generational talent to want to leave. Living in Colorado and watching the Rockies' 3 decades of ineptitude I should be well aware teams are capable of that.

And on another note......since this is a baseball thread.....are the Royals going to piss away a playoff chance? Their bullpen sucks and they cant seem to hit to save their lives. I just want them to make a playoff spot. That's all I ask of this team. Witt is amazing but he can't carry the team. Dude has played about every game.

Maybe they were brainwashed into thinking Ohtani would be ok with sucking by Trout's willingness to play in anonymity forever? Speaking of generational talent, they've wasted their window with TWO of them! I guess they spent money at times, no guarantee that it works out.
