The talent we had then, and the year before. It is fun to watch, reminisce, and be proud. Lots of NFL players there on both sides.
I really hope we are heading that direction again.
I love yootoob.

Didn't they a$$ dust in a bowl game though? That was the worst bowl loss I can remember
Definitely one of the best secondaries in the country HAND DOWN. Those guys and LaVonte David. Wow...what I’d give for those guys NOW.![]()

Harvey Perlman was the least of that mad dog’s problems. One day he will probably go full Woody Hayes and end his career on the spot.November 20th, 2010 = Last day Bo Pelini gave a **** about Nebraska
Harvey Pearlman making Bo do a public apology for getting cheated by the Big 12 was the end of the Bo Pelini era. Sad, but a 100% true.
I know there are some on here that still think it was the right thing to make Bo publically apologize... I don't. I was at that game, and if I was coach I'd probably be in jail for punching one of those refs in the face. That game ruined Bo and put Nebraska back for now is going on 9 year.
Everything happens for a reason, and if that didn't happen we wouldn't have Frost right now... but we never would of had to go through 8 more laughable seasons of football!

Harvey Perlman wasn’t at Youngstown and Bo’s 2018 team resembled some of Bo’s later Husker squads. Lifeless. Maybe there is a shelf life on screamers in this era?The other day I was trying to explain to someone what happened during the Pelini regime and why it unraveled. It seemed in 2009-2010 that Bo has NU on a serious upward trajectory. You might be right about Bo’s commitment to NU ending there.

yea sure 9 wins is great looking back through scarlet lenses, but what was the best win in the Bo era? comeback against Ohio State in which their QB was injured in like mid-October?
guy was a complete fraud, total psychopath & permanent stain on the once-pristine reputation of NU and its loyal fanbase.
We beat Missouri when they were ranked top 10. Good bowl wins against Clemson, Arizona, and Georgia. We beat a ranked Oklahoma team for the first time since 2001. Everyone thought Washington with Jake Locker was scary when we played them, but we beat them. We had several good wins during that time frame. I don't understand why some people choose to completely ignore that timeframe, but part of Bo's tenure was at least a small peak during a 20 year downturn. Fans can at least appreciate it for that.Bo’s best wins in hindsight were probably the win in Stillwater in 2010 or over MIchigan State in 2011. Both opponents finished ranked #10. I’d also say Texas in the 2009 CCG, but....you know....
It's no secret that I'm not a Bo fan, but this post is spot on. Very dumb for Pearlman to make Pelini give a public apology after that complete screw job of a game.November 20th, 2010 = Last day Bo Pelini gave a **** about Nebraska

I think our players being unmotivated had more to do with us getting whooped that bowl game than Washington figuring us out in my opinion.Martinez was never that fast again as we was to start 2010. Those injuries piled up and he really lost a step. Kid could absolutely explode when he started going before he got hurt.
Coaches figured Pelini out just like UW did in the rematch. There are great breakdowns on how Urban Meyer set up that defense any which way he wanted and tore it to shreds every time they played OSU. If you played his game, Bo could shut an offense down. But if you knew how to bait his defense and get numbers advantages you could, say, set NCAA rushing records on him.
Oklahoma finished 8-4. Let's not pretend that OU team was very good.We beat Missouri when they were ranked top 10. Good bowl wins against Clemson, Arizona, and Georgia. When after 7 years the best team you could muster finished ranked at #14, that's not good. When after 7 years the best team you beat ended up ranked at #13, that's also not good.
Its easy not to appreciate mediocrity.
I kind of feel sorry for you that you've followed Nebraska football for 20 years and thought it was completely meaningless. You must be one dedicated fan to continue following something that has no meaning to you for that long.thank you. those wins are completely meaningless in the grand scheme of things, and don't even deserve a paragraph compared to the program-shattering losses we were forced to witness year in and year out as soon as the calendar flipped to November.
"good bowl wins", ha! give me a break

There were some very good wins during Bo's tenure, and a couple under Callahan and Riley as well. But if you want to only look at the negative, that's up to you I guess.
Most people aren't expecting Frost to do better than Bo in terms of his record any time soon. So is this rebuilding period we're going through completely meaningless too? Live in the moment and maybe you would enjoy being a fan more. However I guess some fans are just happy looking at the negatives all the time.
Thank you for this. If we never left the big 12 I think Bo would still be here. His peso (nickel) defense was much more suited to offenses in that conference. I think that was a significant part of his problem. Kinda like how kosgrove had success in the big 10 with Wisconsin, but the advent of the spread in the big 12 killed his defense. We beat Missouri when they were ranked top 10. Oh yeah, that's the year a thoroughly mediocre Texas team made our offense look like a JV squad, and Gilbert Grape turned into Eric Crouch. Bo's flaws were apparent before we moved to the Big Ten.
vs Texas A&M? Absolutely.Didn’t help that big 12 and refs were out for blood our last year in the conference.
That A&M game is one of the most blatant hose jobs by refs against a team I can remember.vs Texas A&M? Absolutely.
vs Texas? That was just us completely crapping the bed.
Watch the K-State game from that year. Jessie Palmer was calling NU a National Title contender. That team did have lots of talent.

You can believe what you want, I just have an opinion that doesn't match yours. If he was asked to publically apologize for what you say, then explain why what is listed below in red happened?Bo never cared about Nebraska...he cared about Ohio State. Bo was made to apologize in that game because he grabbed his Freshman qbs facemask violently on the sideline while the same qb hobbled through the game...had Bo kept it together he would have been named OSU's new head coach after Tressel left...he probably would have left us mid-season to go to OSU. Bo received the treatment he deserved...kind of like a bully complaining that they are on probation for assault...Frost has been afforded much more leeway because he is a respectable character who treats people the right way. Bo didn't even know how to act in a movie theatre, hotel, or gas station..let alone in front of 100k people.
