Can't continually get beat up on the lines and win games.

Our kids played valiantly. Barney did his best to save the day.

We are simply below par with the best. Michigan was never scared today.

I expected the DL to be a work in progress this year after losing last years talent. BUT OMG I was shocked by the OL lack of protection for the QB, that was supposed to be a strength this year and they got exposed big time.

The lines need to play with more violence. The more physical team almost almost almost always wins.

3 years in.

Rhule has done a very poor job of developing talent overall, especially on both lines.

his 2023 recruiting class is shaping up to be…non existent.
Rhule is a lousy talent scout. Elijah Pritchett and other transfer busts attest to that. Give me Cignetti any day over Rhule. Rhule talks big but that is it. I am officially off the Rhule bandwagon. We are not a physical team at all. We are a p$ssy finesse team. Michigan exposed our coach in his vaunted year three as a fraud.
Is anyone else as sick as I am of hearing about Rhule’s year three magic? Ha. We will be lucky to win six games this year with one of the league’s worst offensive lines.

I have been warning you about it for three years now. The funny thing about it was deep down, you already knew. It's cool. Matt Rhule is a great face for the program. However, he is an average coach and belongs at the Baylor's and Temple's of the world. We deserve better.

It's amazing that Gunner is significantly worse this year than last year. He was less experienced and injured last year.
The local Lincoln boy has sucked *** since day one. Would he start for any top 25 team? He was average in high school and the best school that offred him was Iowa St. And the kid has started here for 2 years. People wonder why the o line sucks. Our talent is crap. And I mean crap! Are people freaking blind? Jesus. Talent and coaching. One more time. ....Talent and coaching. We have neither at this time. A blind man could see and undertand this. Not directed towards you, but it is not amazing that he is worse. There is a reason behind this and all of the other crap in the program.

I’ve said for years Nebraska needs to stop focusing on Nebraska HS players. Of course, our locals get butthurt about it. But let’s be honest, Nebraska HS talent isn’t anything to boast about. A couple onesies and twosies a decade, otherwise focus your recruiting on places with actual talent pools.

First of all, NU is going to win more than 6 games with this schedule. I haven't been on the bandwagon and continue to be in the "prove it" mode. Yesterday did nothing to change that. At no point in the game did I think NU would find a way to win. Even the first drive of the game that ended on the failed 4th down play was a Chinese fire drill all the way down the field. That was a precursor of the day.

I watched a little more than half of the MSU v. USC game last night, and MSU is a game we definitely can win. They have issues like we do, just different issues. My concern is this: NU got blown out by IND last year, the next game NU totally shot their wad physically and mentally against OSU only to lose in a valiant effort. NU came out of that game and was flatter than a pancake at home against UCLA.
Even with a bye week, NU cannot afford to have that effort duplicated after the MICH game letdown.

In the Rhule regime at NU: After a bye week 2-2
After a win 8-6, after a loss 5-7
Non Conference games 9-1, Conference games 6-13
As away favorites 1-1, as away team 2-8
As Underdog 2-9, against ranked teams 0-7.

The issue with Matt Rhule is that he's never had any sustained success and that's just how it is.

We certainly wouldn't want to try something like widening the splits in the OL, just to try to alleviate some of the outside rush pressure. We have a 3-man turnstile situation there, hell, who knows maybe one of them could benefit from that alignment. As they say, if you have 2 QB's, you don't have a QB. What is the saying about 3 guys at LT?

I watched from my seats 30 yd line 4 rows up, #77( until they improve they are a number and not a name to me) got beat on consecutive plays. The 2nd one he should have went and hid his face as he got trucked by a 220 lb. safety and got lifted off the ground. You never let anyone get under your pads. Neither tackle has any bend and slow feet. #69 made a great tackle on #35 Nelson on a screen pass when he was running the wrong way. I have told anyone who would listen, if this is the best we have 3 years in, it is an indictment on the coaching and recruiting. Unfortunately I watch warm ups before the game and the back ups are back ups for a reason. Slow and stiff is no way to build and O-Line.

It takes 4 years minimum to develop a good OL from scratch. Most of his OL are either legacy Frost players like Corcoran and Prochazka or transfers. If we don't see guys like Brix and Sledge and Taumua developing into solid starters I'll agree with you. But it is the hardest position to transition to a strength.

There's two sides to this. There ARE very good players that come from Nebraska. But the ones that are borderline are turning into players that can't match up athletically against players from teams like Michigan. They are typical hard workers with good attitudes and play well against the Purdues of the world, but they get beaten going up against high level talent. To take the next step we have to raise the talent bar which means those guys no longer have a spot on the roster.
