How much longer can they ALL stay closed and survive? Will the casual player make fewer trips when they open back up? Will some never re-open?

There were 6 open until the shutdown. I think Goldstrike, Horseshoe, and Fitzgerald’s open back up. Sams Town, Hollywood, and First Jackpot will not open back up.

The Beau is too big to fail, IMO. The Hard Rock, however, with the New Orleans hotel collapsing fiasco, may be a toss up. Scarlet Pearl?

Seems like the amusement park and race track plans were just a couple years ago. Now they’re possibly down to 3 casinos.

Is the ownership of the Biloxi hard rock related to the New Orleans hard rock?

I highly doubt hard rock actually had any money tied up in the New Orleans property. I’m pretty sure that was a developer that was planning to lease the property to hard rock. I have no idea how the hard rock in Biloxi does but if it closes, it won’t be because of what happened in Nola.

I didn't think Sams Town would be at risk but you'd know better than me.

The Southland casino had been putting a hurting on them too, on top of everything else.

I remember mid/late 90s when all the casinos down there were so crowded that you couldn't barely get in the door.

Sams Town is not doing well. They were close to closing a year ago.

Didn't know that. I'd say that for a long time Sams Town and Horseshoe were probably the two most popular casinos down there.

My dad loved Hollywood. He passed in 2014 but we'd go down there a couple of times a month for years, so that place has a nostalgic hold on me.

Every time I go there on business, I fully expect tumbleweeds to roll by. For some reason that area is depressing to me. A lot of blight. Makes you wonder if there should be some provision for returning land to somewhat original state if the business closes. All that weedy asphalt would look a lot better as the field that it once was.

I like the Hollywood too. I'm up there for business about 1 week per year and I've been staying there for years.

My dad went there so much that he knew most of the dealers and servers by their first names and they knew him. He'd sit at the roulette table for half the night nickle-and-diming it and drinking free beer and flirting with the servers. They'd always load him up with comps to the diner, that has since closed. He had a good time with it.

The Hollywood was the first to start their sports book so I went there. I have started going to the Goldstrike to place bets. Their sports bar is incredible now.

What’s really sad is all the empty buildings where the Grand/Harrahs once was. The hotels, convention center, golf course, and shoot clays are all abandoned.

I really like Goldstrikes sports bar. I went for the college football semis. Service was slow but I was there for hours and didn't care as long as I had a beer. Awesome place to watch a game though.

Yeah, that was a really nice facility. We used to have an annual convention there. The golfing was excellent, although it was always windy.

Embarrassed to admit it, but I went down there and dropped a grand on LSU to cover when we played last year. That was one of probably five sports bets I've made in my entire life - but it was easy money so I couldn't pass it up.

Incredible? That's a pretty strong word. Ever been to a Vegas sportsbook? I now it's Tunica, but they could have done a few things to make it approach incredible. It would be much better if the betting windows were actually inside the bar. It would also be much better if they actually played the sound of one of the games over the speakers instead of music. My wife has platinum, so we can sit up in the VIP section and it's pretty good there.

Yeah, but that new equipment auction....It's really sad. That place was really good. You could actually gamble with some space.

I went because I thought LSU over Oklahoma was a stone cold lock. I rarely bet so i was nervous the whole game. But.... that day felt like easy money.

Now that Southland has a sports book it'll be interesting to see how much more damage it does.
