I re-watched the game today and took some notes focusing mainly on the offense. I just wanted to double check how often we have high snaps and whether we are being fair to AM. I might have missed a few and couldn't see a couple of the snaps due to the video. I counted high snaps as helmet or higher regardless of AM jumping.
CP - Completed Pass
IP - Incomplete Pass
HS - High Snap
-------- 1st Q --------
D1: HS run, run, Illegal Motion on Jurgens, IP (JD drops it, also an Illegal Shift), PUNT
D2: run, run, HS run, CP, CP, HS run, scramble positive run, HS run for TD
D3: CP, run, IP (this is the play everyone is bitching about, he could have run or thrown to either the TE or JD who were both open), PUNT
4 High Snaps in 3 series for the 1st Q.
-------- 2nd Q --------
D4: run, run, scramble positive run, IP (multiple penalties on the D), CP, run, CP, run, run, run, FG

0 High Snaps in 3 series for the 2nd Q.
-------- 3rd Q --------
D7: run, CP, run, PUNT
D8: CP (AM clearly hurt on this play), HS CP, run, direct snap run, PUNT (false start as well)

7 High Snaps in 4 series for the 4th Q
My thoughts on AM/High Snaps watching again:
1. Jurgens had 4 high snaps in the first two series yet we managed a TD. Overall over 3 quarters he had 6 high snaps in 10 series (about 50 offensive plays). Not good, but not really the game changer Saturday. That has to impact AM to some decree though as it is rather random so he has to be ready every snap for it.
2. Jurgens had high snaps for pretty much every play for Vedral and LM. That includes two bobble/fumbles by Vedral that clearly impacted the play. 7 total in 4 series (about 16 plays).
3. Both AM and Mo are too tentative when running. AM actually had a lot of positive run plays but neither he nor Mo are particularly looking for contact and it makes them indecisive running.
4. AM does well when the plays are by the numbers. When he has to make reads and check down, he is just not decisive and gets tunnel vision.
5. AM ran about 50 plays by my count. I think he had 2 clearly bad plays as noted above and maybe 3-4 really tentative ones. It isn't as bad as everyone is making out, but when it happens at critical times, the impact is magnified.
6. Vedral is calm and collected in the offense. I don't think we'll slip too much with him in if AM can't play at MN. Maybe he doesn't have all the tools AM does, but he will get the job done for us.
Also, on the defense. I notice people talking about adjustments at half time. NW clearly made adjustments on the running game at the end of the 2nd Q by attacking Alex Davis. By the 3rd Q, they were attacking him almost every play. Alex was either over pursuing the RB or going too far upfield and not sealing his edge. NW simply started having the QB keep more often and attacking his position.
NU did adjust to this. They took Alex out. He played a whole lot less after that series and the D responded.
