Is certainly being retained what do the EAR fans predict for next season and what'll it take for him to be retained after 2016?

It's WAY too early to make predictions.

Gotta see who will still be on the team next year and who is doing what in the Spring. Maybe Chugs supplants Howard as the starting QB and can light it up. Maybe Gibson and Durante and even White make huge improvements going into next year the way Kevin White did between his first and second years.

Maybe Smallwood blows out a knee in the Spring and is gone for the year.

Also gotta see who stays and who goes and who makes coaching changes at other schools.

The good thing is that we won't have a stretch next year like we had this year playing 4 top 15 teams in a row, with 3 of them being on the road. We'll have OK, Baylor and TCU all at home next year.

I think it has to be at least 8 wins in the regular season to be retained. Anything less, and I'd say he's toast. Even 8 might not be enough if Lyons has a better option

As long as WVU plays soft OOC and KU and ISU remain the dregs of college football....don't ever see WVU falling below .500.

We have Missouri, Youngstown St. at home next year and BYU at FedEx Field as our OOC games. I believe that's the last FCS team we have scheduled at the moment. We are moving away from the FCS schools and bringing back some of the old opponents like VT, Pitt and Penn St.

WVU's 2016 OOC schedule looked fairly tough until Missouri fell apart this season and lost its coach, then BYU lost its coach.

I believe the Big 12 banned its members from scheduling any more FCS teams and requires each to play at least one P5 OOC game.

Scratch that. Big 10 banned playing FCS teams and the Big 12 members are not allowed to play multiple FCS teams. That said, WVU has already said it will not play anymore FCS schools.

The separation continues...

What about CUSA members, half of which are worse than FCS teams?

I can't argue with that point. CUSA has 4-5 good teans but the rest I don't think would win an FCS conference title.
4-5 good teams?!? That gets you down into the #78-88 team. Arguing that CUSA has one good team is a stretch...

Also depends on if BYU gets Whittingham from Utah. That makes that a tougher game than I would think now. Have to beat Mizzou no matter what. 1-2 going into league play isn't going to allow for enough wiggle room for Dana to get to 8 wins.
