Really stupid. We have to get over the hump in one of these games. No more moral victories.

That said, we went to the hoop all day and went to the line once on a 3? They must be incredibly well coached.

Yeah that no look pass was uncalled for. The guy Gilbert was passing to was open but only for a split second and you can’t make that pass in that situation. I think Gilbert thought he was more open than he actually was but in that situation down 1 you have to have a good shot and not a live ball TO. The live ball TO led to a Villanova 3 and ballgame. That was the game right there and on that play. It sucks but this team just doesn’t have the ingredients to win close games down the stretch.

I get it......rose colored glasses see close loses and if they are W's we are a top 25 ranked team but reality is that Gilbert/Vital/Carlton are not capable of the big game. Never have been really.

I think they are probably good kids but they represent hopefully an era that is on its last legs here at UConn. They need to be replaced by kids that represent the future here. If that means we lose by more WHO CARES we are losing anyway but this way the kids playing learn from it. Gilbert/Vital/Carlton are WAY past the LEARNING STAGE

Dom I have to agree with your last post. I think AG, CV and Carlton are all good kids and they all seem to care about representing the school well. They just aren’t the same caliber of player UConn had in the past. None of them are difference makers. CV is a gritty player but he is not really a guy you want as your main man player.

I think I've lost my mind. I somehow think we are going to win these games and then our guard play blows it.

I did not think UConn was going to hold that lead, and especially not after Bouknight fouled out via technical with 5 minutes to go. Poor guard play has been the culprit in the close losses to Houston, Villanova, Wichita State and Xavier. All of those games were winnable but all of them looked the same to me at the end.

Against Houston last night UConn did get a wide open look for a potential game tying basket by a walk on, who was playing because of multiple foul outs of others, but Houston left him open on purpose, so you have to ask whether you want a walk on shooting a wide open 15 footer or one of the others shooting a contested 3 to win the game. At that point down 2 players on the road, I liked the idea of going for the win and hoisting a contested 3, Vital can actually make them sometimes. Instead a missed wide open 15 footer by a walk on, who looked very distraught after he missed that shot. Oh well.
