Just threw up all over ourselves over the last 3 minutes. McConnell was awful. Yeboah not much better.

Who on this team can make a play in the last 2 minutes?

Same story in every road Big 10 game (except MSU). Just don't have the talent to make that big play on the road.

I can't imagine the play was McConnell to chuck up a contested 3. Need to fix whatever that was all about.

Caleb is not a PG. He’s better suited coming off the bench and being a solid role player. Trusting him with the rock at end of critical games is very dangerous.

Not blaming Caleb but moments like this are sometimes just too big for some to handle

The only guy who can handle it is Geo and he is lost in another of his too many funks.

That was a top ten team. We will make the dance, but we have no go to guy or any pure shooters. The is a blue collar team, who fights and play their heart out every minute of the game. Sometimes we need to step and remember where we came from.

I agree that the difference between us and an elite time is better scorers/shooters.

That’s why it’s so important to get Geo back to his old self. He’s the only guy with a track record of clutch play when the game is on the line. It can’t happen fast enough!

We lose in a close dog fight on the road to the #9 team, and we aren't even NCAA material? You realize that the number 10 ranked team in the country would have been predicted to do exactly the same as we did, right? Lordy.
We can make the NCAAs but this is not a team that can win in the NCAAs. Without a decent lead with 2 min to go we fold like a cheap suit. Our FG% in the last 2 min of road games has to be below 15%.

Just don't have any elite level players. Not one.

So does that mean we are not ready for Prime time or rather that we do not know how to finish the last 3 minutes of these tight games against other ranked teams ? I think you made to say the latter because if you meant what the title of the thread implies , you are just so wrong.

By Ready for Prime Time, I mean a team which is capable of pulling out a tough road win - at least ONCE in an entire season. Losing every single time is not ready for prime time. It just means you get beat like a drum when it counts most.

You don’t even know the definition. We are not clutch on the road but we are ready for Prime Time and can play with anyone in the country and will probably beat any team in the country at home. Get a grip man. It sucks, it’s frustrating , it pisses us all off , and we wish we won one of these already .

I think we would smoke many of the teams in the mid level seeds in the NCAA.

at some point, Harper and Baker will break out...I mean, we have been losing painfully close games with both in offensive funks at the same time, and no Young today...we need to work through it, and hopefully peak as we end the season. Let's go 3-1 in next 4, that would get us to 19-8 and 10-6 in B10 with 4 to play...

Before all competitive losses on the road this year and the Iowa ranked road win last year...
2017-18 5 Road games vs ranked lost by 22, 31, #4 MSU by 4(OT), 15, 27
2016-17 3 Road games vs ranked lost by 20, 12, 19

Road games @ top 25 teams before Pikiell

*2013-14 @ #19 UConn 63-69*
2013-14 N #5 Louisville 31-93 AAC tournament
2012-13 @ #7 Syracuse 53-78 (Rice)
*2012-13 @ #20 ND 66-69*
*2012-13 @ #24 Cindy 54-62*

2009-10 @ #8 WVU 56-82
2009-10 @ #12 Georgetown 63-88
2009-10 @ #17 Pitt 54-83

Last 25 ranked road games, 8 losses- single digits, 9 losses 20+

Doesn't even include blowout road losses to unranked teams or blowout losses to ranked teams at home.

Pike has almost beat 2 Top 10 teams on the road the last 3 years (2018, 2020), before that was 2012.

2017-1991(27 years), only three ranked road wins.
2008 W @ #13 Pitt 77-64
2001 W @ #22 Seton Hall 70-64
1997 W @ #16 Temple 72-63

What Pike's built and doing is amazing last 4 years. You can tell it will last for years to come.
