Bobby Ditaco won't be retained at OU. His career sure has gone to **** since the one big year at ND.

It is a results fast business...I feel for coaches, especially on defense, who are not given more than a year to implement changes. How many CEOs are asked to come in a turn a broken business around in 9 months...but he has made a crap ton of money to do poorly at his job.

I don't know if there's ever been a worse assistant coaching hire in terms of expectations vs reality than when we hired Bob Diaco. And people thought Mark Banker was bad. I had to laugh recently when I discovered something I had saved on my computer from before the 2017 season-it was from the Journal-Star and it measured fan attitudes before the season. They asked whether you were optimistic or pessimistic going into the season. The vast majority said they were optimistic and the number one reason listed(out of 4 possible responses) was "Diaco has the magic touch with the Blackshirts".

Being a “defensive genius” is literally the hardest thing in the world.

You know what an “offensive genius” gets to do on 2nd down after calling a disaster play on 1st down, or even all 11 players muck it up? He gets to call some other play that might or might not work.

You know what a “defensive genius” gets to do after a messed up call or one single player mucks it up? He has to explain to everyone in the world what an idiot he is because the offense scored.

Not saying Diaco is some genius, but the in-game difference between guru and moron is razor-thin on defense in college.

Does anyone think Kevin Steele is some difference-maker as a DC? God I hope not. Either way, he can essentially choose his DC job in America other than maybe 6-8 schools.
