Even if you leave out the first quarter of 2009—when the recession that started in December 2007 was still ongoing--President Barack Obama has presided over the lowest average first-quarter GDP growth of any president who has served since 1947, which is the earliest year for which the Bureau of Economic Analysis has calculated quarterly GDP growth.

In all first quarters since 1947, the real annual rate of growth of GDP has averaged 4.0 percent.

In the seven first quarters during Obama’s presidency, it has declined by an average of -0.43 percent. And if you leave out the first quarter of 2009 and look only at the first quarters of the six years since the recession ended, it has averaged only 0.4 percent.

That's like saying "Andrew McCutcheon has the lowest average in the league in games played on Tuesday." Since games are played every day what difference does it make whether a player turns out to be bad, or good, on one particular day of the week?

How about this fact. Obama has the slowest growth coming out of recession of any President in history.

I don't know the details but that depends on how you define "coming out" and it also assumes a recessions are the same, which they're not. I think a lot of economists will tell you that the 2008-09 recession was the worst recession ever, assuming you don't define the Great Depression as a recession, and I never hear it defined that way but my guess is that it did meet the formal definition of a recession.

Also, as far as "any POTUS in history," it wouldn't surprise me if we don't have reliable numbers for the first 100 years or so.

The excuses you guys come up with for this president are simply amazing. His recovery is the worst in history and yes that is recorded history and you guys defend him. I can also point to many economists that said the Reagan recession was worse. Presidents are elected to lead and not make excuses. Obama has proven that high taxes, massive government and heavy regulations do not lead to prosperity. And keep in mind the Fed has stimulated the economy unlike any fed in the history of our country. What do we have to show for it, a growing stock market and a disappearing middle-class.
