I saw the latest Flo picks for top ten placements at NCAA's. We didn't even have one guy in the top ten. That should really piss our guys off.

A little surprised not one in the top 10. Based on last seasons results, returnees/AAs and new additions to the college scene, Rutgers wrestler arent getting the respect (right or wrong). That being said, if Pinto or Shawver had PSU singlets on, they'd probably be on the list. Either way, I hate preseason rankings.
Flo has Rutgers with 3 AA in the rankings. 133 Shawver 7th 149 Clark 8th 174 Pinto 8th. Not sure what people are looking at.

Let's be fair here. Flo has not made official placer positions at Nationals. JD did (no RU placers). Flo has only produced preseason rankings (3 RU guys in the top 8 of their respective weights).

That's what I meant just forget to say advancement thought that would be self explanatory you can't place without advancing
I was looking at the actual rankings Flo puts out. Not what 1 employee said . I had no idea JD did that
They also have advancement points for non-AA positions. So the idea that a team with a lot lf R12 or R16 are missing points is what was inaccurate.

Flo is not ranking teams placement at the National tournament. They are calculating total team points at the National tournament based on advancement/placement (minus bonus) based on individual rankings. This is totally valid. What is there not to understand?

I don't disagree, but they do the tournament team projections to show which teams are likely to trophy at Nationals. The team trophy is still a big deal. Ask Cael.

Yes I wrestled for 13 years and have been around the sport 46 and I'm still involved. I have coached on all levels and coached an athlete at who's #1 years ago. Have been in the corner at many D1 events as well as conference weekend. Don't come at me with the did you wrestle BS because you were a 2 time AA in the 80s. Just because you have accolades doesn't mean you know things 40 years later
He's one guy at the company who put out his picks. Flo has ranking as well and have 3 Rutgers guys ranked to AA. Also I lived in NJ for 15 years and now live in AZ.
Did wrestling change from forty years ago? Is there some new form of single leg ,duck under, boot scoot, Dresser dump, Metzger, horse collar ride, spiral ride, two on one, Russian tie, that got revolutionized since I wrestled? Takedown points got changed, D2 and D3 Champs qualifying for D1 got eliminated, and we have video reviews, are that changed.I know wrestling.You wrestled 13 years with I'm assuming mid level or possibly moderate success, and you want to patronize my AA accolades? Good job you were an AA that doesn't mean you still know what goes on. Scrambling is new as is neutral danger the sport has definitely changed. 4 point NF is new so is drop down rule things evolve.
Those are not rankings at all rankings are results driven. Those are 1 guys predictions. Sorry you don't understand the difference

I think everyone plays on both sides of the ranking/predictions line once they get into the team rankings. By assigning binary scores to the rankings (20 for first, 16 for second, etc.) they are essentially predicting that their ranking will be the final result. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, there isn't. But it just tends to annoy me that they bend over backward to say these are not predictions, but then they use them to make predictions.
Wasn't someone monitoring rankings from Preseason through the Postseason to identify trends?
I think its all just noise anyway even if it gets the fan in me excited. Post season qualification and placement are everything currently.

My prediction is that Rutgers in general will gradually rise in the first semester and then regress as the 2nd semester goes deeper. Just look at the opponents. Big 10 season is a grind and there will likely be more losses during that part of the season.
